Joanne, we did Die For Me a couple months ago. You can still access the conversation. Would you like to nominate something else?
Is the non-theme book I have now ok? I didn't see it on the groups bookshelf. Please let me know if its ok. Thanks

I don't think Soulless is a Young Adult book...

Agreed. It is not categorized as YA, even though I know many people consider it a crossover book. I, personally, do not. I thought it was a bit graphic in the sex dept. for a YA book.

Well I personally do consider it a YA book --"Young Adult" not to be confused with "Teen" or "Children".
I won't be posting in this group again. I am entitled to my opinion.

I apologize if I offended you. Our rules state that the monthly book club books should be classified as YA. If you check the shelves at the library, this book is in the fiction or sci-fi sections, not the young adult.
You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, as are all of our members. While I thought the sexy scenes were a too graphic to be YA, I do not make the classification of where books go or who they are marketed for. Nor is my opinion of a book "law" in this group. In fact, the book won the Alex Award last year, so apparently I am in the minority.
Many people love books that I do not and vice versa. That's the best part of this group- discussion. I was not judging your choice of books and actually I liked the book myself.
As far as the Alex Awards go, according to Wikipedia...(emphasis mine)The Alex Awards were named for twentieth-century American librarian Margaret "Alex" Edwards. They are awarded annually to ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults.
Therefore, I would say that it's not a young adult book.
Any more nominations? I'm going to try to get the polls up this afternoon/evening. It's been a busy week!
We will be reading
Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride as our humorous book and
The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson as our regular book.
Soon we'll have up polls for our theme for the next month, so be watching for that!
Enjoy!

Our theme for November is Humor! You may nominate 2 Young Adult books, one that is themed, and one that is not. Please label your books as themed and non-themed. Nominations will run for about 1 week.
Don't forget to check the group's bookshelf for books we've already read.
Please include authors' names when nominating. Authors may not nominate their own books!
Thanks!
