My Fantasy short story is:
The Colors of Qua
This is a story about what it truly means to be punished, and how sometimes redemption can only be found when you give it to yourself.
Sofia exists in a world between the living and dead, and she must help the souls of the deceased transition to whatever comes next. Although Sofia takes pride in her work, she still believes she is being punished for the secret she keeps inside. When she meets a man who can actually see her, everything changes. Now she must be willing to give up everything she knows in order to find the one thing she so desperately seeks – redemption.

Hi, My fantasy is middle grade, more humor than horror, one about identity.
At this Halloween party, costumes make the child. The painter Mistral's mural transports the wayward Sadie and her friends to a star where their Halloween costumes become real. As Fortuneteller, Sadie only has to look in her crystal ball to see the adventures of her friends in their dream identities. The hunt for a star-of-sapphire necklace takes up the latter chapters of this madcap fantasy.
Readers can start on this at Goodreads - 30 percent is loaded. If you're a reviewer, I will send you the rest of the book in an ebook file or PDF.

Hello, the first four books in my 12-part sci-fi/fantasy series, "The Noricin Chronicles," are currently available, and Book 5 comes out in February!
On his 12th birthday, after an accident where he accidentally sets the orphanage bully on fire (without a match, or blowtorch or anything), Dan Regal receives a visit from an enigmatic, purple-eyed stranger by the name of Nevar Loeren. Mr. Loeren informs Dan that he is a member of a secret race of super-humans, known as Noricinites, and that he has come to invite Dan to come to a school where he will be trained to harness his newfound powers.
If pressed to categorize this series, I would say that it's a dark Harry Potter combined with The X-Men and The DaVinci Code - though I should note that this is NOT a YA series, even though the books start off with a 12 year-old boy as the central character. The last four books in particular get VERY dark and deal with subject matter not appropriate for readers of all ages.
For more information about the series, feel free to check out http://noricin.webs.com.
Neil Gaiman fans may enjoy my contemporary fantasy about a sculptor who decides to destroy the universe.
My latest novel, The Dream, is a paranormal, timeslip/fantasy novel. It's also a romance. It explores the concept of fate and how much that dictates our lives. It asks the question: if you could go back in time and change one thing, what else would be changed as a result? It's also a bit spooky. Enjoy!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my novel. My name is Paul Jones and I'm the author of the sci-fi adventure Towards Yesterday.
What would you do if you suddenly found yourself twenty-five years in the past? For the nine-billion people of the year 2042 it's no longer a question ... it is a reality.
When a seemingly simple experiment goes disastrously wrong, James Baston finds himself stranded alongside the rest of mankind, twenty-five years in the past. A past where the old are once more young, the dead live and the world has been thrust into chaos.
Contacted by the scientist responsible for the disaster, James is recruited to help avert an even greater catastrophe. Along with a team of scientists, a reincarnated murder victim and a frustrated genius trapped in her six-year old body, James must stop the certain extinction of humanity. But if the deluded leader of the Church of Second Redemption has his way, humanity will disappear into potentiality, and he is willing to do anything to ensure that happens.
A serial killer, a murder victim, a dead priest, and James' lives are all inextricably bound together as they plummet towards an explosive final confrontation, the winner of which will decide the fate of humanity.
Reviews
"Towards Yesterday is the best time travel story that I can remember coming across in any medium -- book, movie, TV show, or video game."

"Good God, the artful penmanship this writer has! To make me, a non-fan of the genre, twist and turn and cheer (for the most odd of characters, no less)"

"This is a hidden gem that would be a pure shame to miss. Toward Yesterday is an apocalyptic, science fiction thriller, that kept me sneaking away to read my Kindle for the entire Memorial Day weekend. Engrossing, thought-provoking, filled with lasting, vivid imagery...the story gripped me early, and didn't let go."
~ Steven Konkoly, author of The Jakarta Pandemic ~
"'Towards Yesterday' is a wonderful throw back to the days when Science Fiction was actually based to some degree on Science."

Hello all, I'm
Michel J. Sullivan
and I want to thank you for the opportunity to tell you a bit about my books. For those that don't know the original books in the Riyria Revelations are now out of print as the series is being re-released by Orbit (Fantasy Imprint of #2 Publisher Hachette Book Group).RIYRIA REVELATIONS: Unlikely Heroes...Classic Adventure
There's no orphan destined for greatness or ancient evil to destroy…just two rogues in the wrong place at the wrong time. Royce Melborn, a cynical thief, and his ex-mercenary partner, Hadrian Blackwater, make a profitable living performing dangerous assignments for petty nobles…until a simple job to steal a sword finds them framed for the murder of the king. And so begins this simple tale that uncovers a conspiracy far greater than the mere overthrow of a tiny kingdom.
I wrote all six books before releasing the first, and five of them were published by a small imprint run by my wife. They did well...I sold 70,000+ copies, and have 2300+ ratings and 500+ reviews here on goodreads. Now, they are being re-released as a trilogy in 3 consecutive months: Nov, Dec, and Jan. The "older" books that you might be more familiar with are here:
REVIEWS
"Filled with adventure and clever dialog and featuring a pair of not-quite-heroes whose loyalties to each other provide them with their greatest strength, this epic fantasy showcases the arrival of a master storyteller." -- Library Journal
Hair-raising escapes, flashy sword fights, and faithful friendship complete the formula for good old-fashioned escapist fun." -- Publisher's Weekly
"Wintertide (A++) is the second top-rated combo (with The Emerald Storm) of 2010 for me and establish the series as one of the best traditional epic fantasies currently being published and a top 10 novel of mine." — Fantasy Book Critic

Michael J. Sullivan: Theft of Swords Heir of Novron Rise of Empire
Hi Everybody, my name is Valerie Douglas and I'm the author of a number of fantasy novels, including The Coming Storm series and Song of the Fairy Queen. The Coming Storm series tells the story of Elon of Aerilann, Elven advisor to the High King of Men and Ailith , who is more than merely the heir to the throne of Riverford.
After centuries of war, Elon helped negotiate peace between Elves, Dwarves and men. For nearly twenty years that fragile truce has held but now he finds it threatened from without by an unknown enemy and from within by old hatreds and prejudices. With the aid of his true-friend Colath, the wizard Jareth and the elven archer Jalila, he searches for the source of the threat. To preserve the alliance Elon will be forced to choose between his honor, his duty and everything for which they fought. includes The Coming Storm, and its sequel A Convocation of Kings
The series also includes the novellas Setting Boundaries (twelve weeks on the Amazon.com list of top 100 free epic fantasy) and Not Magic Enough, a deeply romantic fantasy set in the same universe.
Song of the Fairy Queen - an EPIC Ariana Cover Award finalist - is a tale of classic heroic fantasy.
It's said of Fairy that if you're in dire need and call their name they'll come. With his castle under siege and his young son in his arms, High King Oryan couldn't be in more dire need. With only Morgan, his High Marshal, and a handful of Morgan's men at his back, he has only one direction left to run...up. And only one ally to whom he can turn. Kyriay, the Queen of the Fairy.
My just-published science fiction novel Twin-Bred is about the difficulty of comprehending The Other, and an unusual attempt to overcome that difficulty. Can interspecies diplomacy begin in the womb? After seventy years on Tofarn, the human colonists and the native Tofa still know very little about each other. Misunderstanding breed conflict, and the conflicts are escalating. Scientist Mara Cadell’s radical proposal: that host mothers of either species carry fraternal twins, human and Tofa, in the hope that the bond between twins can bridge the gap between species. Mara lost her own twin, Levi, in utero, but she has secretly kept him alive in her mind as companion and collaborator.
Mara succeeds in obtaining governmental backing for her project – but both the human and Tofa establishments have their own agendas. Mara must shepherd the Twin-Bred through dangers she anticipated and others that even the canny Levi could not foresee. Will the Twin-Bred bring peace, war, or something else entirely?...

The Toad King: A Soldier's Story Major John Elliott, U.S. Army, is shanghaied by an advanced alien race in order to teach them the long lost art of war. The only problem is that he isn’t from Special Forces and his alien troops aren’t cut out to be warriors; they faint at the mere thought of battle. But his survival is now intertwined with theirs, and against all odds, he must teach his peace-loving aliens how to defend themselves or else perish with them.
My first SciFi novel. I had too much fun writing this, which I did as a challenge to some stuffy English Major. Who says that Engineers can't write exciting adventure novels? So what, if it took a mere eight years to complete. I will let my reviewers on Amazon.com speak as to whether I met the challenge. http://www.amazon.com/Toad-King-Soldi...
However, I must admit that I had my own epic battles against typos and I struggled valiantly to maintain parallel structure throughout the adventure.

Elle - thanks for setting up this discussion group. Great idea.
I would like to introduce a sci-fi fantasy by a young writer, P.T. Dean, who is just starting his career. It is a tour-de-force of imagaination, and a remarkable debut novel. See my full review on the

First Impressionsis Sci-fi, part of a series of short stories on a peer review site, and FREEmy other book,
The Speed of Darkness has the odd sci-fi mix of animal testing and werewolves and sits happily on amazon, Smashwords, Barnes&Noble...etc.
All of the elemental powers are in the palm of her hand...and it won't be enough to save her.
When Kaitlyn Alder is involuntarily introduced to a life of magic, she becomes part of an organization hell-bent on saving the Earth. Just as her newfound life holds promises of purpose, romance, and friendship, the organization divides and a rogue member holds Kaitlyn hostage. Now she must endure one of the most terrifying men the human race has to offer. Should she survive, her ability to bring balance to the planet remains uncertain.

Dude - thanks! Congratulations on your October sales, by the way. What are you doing right? Because I want to copy you...
My paranormal YA debut is Being Human (yup, just like the TV show.)
Do you have what it takes to be human? For Tommy, there is only one thing he needs to do: survive.
Only surviving isn't that easy. The hunt for blood can be tricky when humans know to fear the night. Desire sits on the edge of his mind, urging him to become the monster humans think he is. Vampire Forces, a special branch of police, is determined to turn every vampire to ash. Tommy included.
The only human Tommy can trust is his twin brother. A bond connects them, and with Danny's help, Tommy starts to understand the human world he struggles to survive in. He'll learn what friendships means and feel the sting of betrayal, find that sometimes the worst monsters are very human, and come to understand that family means more than blood.
Tommy just wants to survive and he knows what he needs to do. But with the number of humans that mean more to him than a meal growing, he'll learn there's more to life than simple survival. He'll discover being human doesn't mean being a human.
I also have a short story I'm getting ready to publish as a freebie to show readers my writing style called Influence of Love. It's about the angels and devils that sit on our shoulders and whisper in our ears.

Kale is part of the darkness that seeks to corrupt mortals and Ariel is part of the light at the end of the tunnel. They are at odds; their duty to tip the scales in their favor. But sometimes, there’s more to duty than what you know. Sometimes, there’s a greater purpose. And sometimes…
It involves love.
Malja wants answers. She wants to know why the two most powerful magicians in all of Corlin ripped her from her mother's arms, raised her only to fight, and then tossed her away to die at age ten. She wants to know why they are trying to recreate the spells which caused the Devastation that wiped out most of the world's population, leaving behind skeletal cities and abandoned technology. And she wants to kill them.
With Tommy, an orphan bearing the tattoos of a sorcerer, she crosses this shattered land. Despite the challenges they face -- crazed magicians, guitar-playing assassins, mutated beasts -- Malja pursues her vengeance with a single-mindedness that may destroy all she holds dear, forcing her to make a terrible choice between the family she lost and the one she has built.
"The Tower's Alchemist" is a full-length novel I recently released. It's an urban fantasy story set in an alternate WWII era where Nazis have allied themselves with warlocks to gain an advantage--and where the Allies counteract this by employing wizards.
Isabella George (codenamed Emelie) is one of these wizards who goes on what she expects to be her final mission--but amidst betrayal (and a vampiric warlock stalking her), she finds that she's not going to be able to easily leave this life. Even if she did, she has another obstacle in her way--the wizards of the Gray Tower, who've trained her. They may turn out to be her worst enemy.
The Tower's Alchemist is the first book of The Gray Tower Trilogy.
Book #2 "Dark Rift" is available as well.
The Crecian Experiance
This is the first installment in a trilogy of novellas about which species are allowed to become human and how that decision can change the destiny of all who seek it.
Elliot is a Crecian police officer, stationed on earth, in order to monitor the behavior of her own kind. Crecians have been allowed to live their last lifetime as a human, but something is going horribly wrong. Crecians are dying in large numbers, burned to death by their own life force.
Elliot must come to terms with the death of her own partner in order to discover who is killing her people and why. The more she learns about the human race, the more she realizes they have made a terrible mistake.

YA fantasy with a Romeo and Juliet theme! This is a star-crossed adventure through two different worlds.Eref is about to die. He sits at the End of Light World, accepting his stoning execution one rock at a time, until the impossible happens: the ground opens up beneath him, and he drops down into the unknown.
There, he meets Caer, a kind-hearted girl from Dark World who saves his life. Together, the pair forms an unlikely and illegal bond that not even the strongest hatred can break. But can their connection bring down the evil institution that has kept Light World and Dark World at odds for hundreds of years?

Timepiece is a steampunk time travel adventure about a girl, a pocket watch, Frankenstein's monster, the Battle of Waterloo, and giant clockwork robots taking over London. (No, really.)

"Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Paranormal" it's exactly like the bookshelves in a shop with Science-Fiction squeezed out of existance as usual. Why do people insist on grouping these together? Yes, Science-Fiction and Fantasy do have a history together, but once you throw Paranormal into the group it's usually wall to wall red lips and Goodnight Vienna.
Shame.

The Toad King: A Soldier's Story
This book seems to be a repeat of a plot told many times, but I wrote this story to ask the question, "When does a civilization become too civilized to defend itself from annihilation?" Here is the blurb:
Major John Elliott, U.S. Army, is shanghaied by an advanced alien race in order to teach them the long lost art of war. The only problem is that he isn’t from Special Forces and his alien troops aren’t cut out to be warriors; they faint at the mere thought of battle. Below is an Amazon.com review. There are five other reviews available.
The Toad King: A Soldier's Story is not only a page-turner; its image should be in the dictionary next to page-turner! There are unexpected twists and turns throughout while following the adventures an Army supply officer attempting to teach a pacifist alien race who falls unconscious if you look at them wrong how to fight a war against an invading race. Combined with the strong character development, fantastic dynamics between characters, and great humor, this book is a must read. I can't wait for the sequel!

Hello all, nice to join the group. My book Urgus the Scribe was published this year as an eBook on Smashwords and Amazon.
It is a fantasy adventure set in a medieval--but not magical--world. There is humour and exciting battle scenes, although much of the gore and lopping of limbs is left unsaid. There are also serious themes underlying the action and humour, dealing with the fragility of civilisation.

I have just reprinted my fantasy novel GOBLIN MOON. It was originally published by Ace in 1991, but this is my first venture into self-publishing my backlist so that it will be available to a new generation of readers.
It's an old-fashioned swashbuckling historical novel (except that it isn't our world or our history), told in the good old-fashioned style. Rather like Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell in that respect, but faster paced. Gunpowder & Alchemy supersede Sword & Sorcery. It's a tale of sorcery, witchcraft, mesmerism, animal magnetism, schemes, subterfuges, disguises, revenges, secret societies, and secret identities.
You can buy it in trade paperback through the Lulu store POD, and in Kindle format from amazon.com and amazon.co.uk
Dear friends,Do you enjoy urban fantasy and paranormal thrillers, but are you tired of sparkling vampires and brainless, co-dependent heroines? Do you love dragons? I mean, really love dragons? Possibly in a borderline dangerous way that you aren't really comfortable discussing with strangers? Please allow me to introduce you to Garrett Terago and Megan Crunk: your new favorite hero and heroine.

He offers her love and protection from the vampires. But can he keep her safe from his own kind? War looms between the dragons. Some long for a time lost to prehistory, when they were worshiped as gods, masters of the world.Somehow, Garrett is instrumental to their plans, and Megan is their way.

What readers are saying:
"I am so excited to have finally found what I crave. Dragons, vampires, and more... without sparkling skin or a character list filled with teeny-boppers. "The Shadow of Tiamat is one of the most original pieces of work I have read in awhile. With the way most books are now, I expected a generic, already been done, revamped story of dragons. Nope, this book provides a truly one of a kind take on these beings. The only thing better than the characters in this story is the action that takes place. I found it very difficult to pick a favorite part in this story. I'm waiting in anticipation for the next one. Come on Book 2!!!! I'm so excited!!!" 5 stars -- Amazon Reviewer stardustgalaxy

I'll be releasing the third book in my Andersson Dexter series of futuristic detective novels in March 2012.Join M. Darusha Wehm's cyberpunk private eye Andersson “Dex” Dexter as he walks the mean streets of the future. His beat is the bleak urban landscape as well as a lush virtual world; both filled with extortion, murder and mayhem.
Check out the first two books:
Volume One: Self Made
Ever wish things were different? Ivy Velasquez did, so she became someone else. In the 3D virtual world Marionette City, you can be anything you want — but everyone still knows who you are. Driven by her desire for a new life, Ivy takes her future in her hands when she makes another identity for herself. But one day, Ivy tries to access M City as her alternate self, Reuben Cobalt, to discover that Reuben had been murdered.
Since alternate identities are forbidden by the firms which control access to the nets and to M City, Ivy has nowhere to turn — until she finds Andersson Dexter. Part private eye, part vigilante and part cop, Dex sets out to uncover Reuben's killer.
Volume Two: Act of Will
Andersson Dexter is a new man, still living his old life.Part vigilante, part private eye, part cop, Dex is muddling his way through his day job as a faceless customer service rep for a giant firm, while solving routine cases in his off hours. But when a gruesomely mutilated corpse is found, things heat up for Dex and the underground organization he calls the Cubicle Men.

My paranormal suspense thriller is OF GOOD AND EVIL.The book, a quick-paced and intriguing, action-packed story, a no-nonsense, timely novel with a beautiful and unusual love story, immerses the reader in a spellbinding story of good versus evil presented in a different and innovative way as seen through the eyes of a Green Beret discharged from the army after the men under his control died in fierce combat and his ensuing anguish becomes unbearable. From the first page, the reader instantly becomes involved. Characterizations of decency and depravity ebb and flow as ex-Green Beret Ron Sheffield battles mobsters, terrorists, and an unsavory government cell while at the same time, he falls in love, develops mental gifts, and desperately seeks his place in the sun. The lines separating decency and corruption blur, but the message is commanding and clear. In the battle of spirit versus tyranny, an honorable soul seeks to triumph against impossible odds.
REVIEWS --- 5 stars
"Of Good And Evil is such a finely written novel, so well plotted and paced, that the reader is immediately drawn into the book from the first page. In creating the character of Ron Sheffield, Gerald Griffin has proven himself to be a writer of extraordinary skills. That Mr. Griffin is able to use mere words to introduce the reader to Ron Sheffield is nothing short of breathtaking --- it is not often that a writer can make so complex a character, a person with such internal torments and external gifts, resonate so perfectly with a plot and locations that keep the reader glued to the book from start to finish."
Rick Friedman, Founder, James Mason Community Book Club
"Of good And Evil is the very embodiment of what a paranormal thriller should be. Perfectly paced, the sheer caliber of talent shown by this author boggles the mind. It is extremely rare to find such a skilled writer. Of Good And Evil is not only the best paranormal thriller I have read period, it is also one of the best books I have ever read."
Shane Porteous, Author (RASCISS, GRAVE CALLER, HOW GODS BLEED)
"An absolute must read! It's not your typical fight between of good and evil and the suspense will grab hold of you and keep you turning the pages."
Starr Reina, Suspense Magazine
"Gerald G. Griffin, in his brilliant thriller Of Good And Evil, takes the reader on a wild ride with the real world as his background and makes the reader believe in his plot and characters, giving his audience a well-conceived story delivered with the talent of a born writer. He's also gone that step further that separates writers from great writers. Ron Sheffield, Gerald's gifted but tormented main character, has everything a great writer needs to engage a reader on an emotional level. This is one of the gifts of a great story teller."
Tracey Alley, Author (ERICH'S PLEA, URSULA'S QUEST)
