who felt that (obviously) jason is a replacement for percy in the second one and frank for leo and hazel for piper? and reyna for annabeth? i sort of felt that the author repeated his ideas too much?

You mean, Percy is a replacement for Jason in the second one? Otherwise, YEP I AGREE THAT:
Jason=Percy
Frank=Leo
Hazel=Piper

no jason and percy are replacements for each other over all of course hera/juno says so, but the others? and reyna=annabeth!

I thought Frank and Hazel were pretty different from Leo and Piper. I mean, they play kind of the same rolls in the way that Percy kind of led the quest like Jason did in the first book. But Leo cracks way more jokes, where as Frank is more serious. I think they're similar but different.

Hazel and Piper are similar but then again there are some differences. I think it's possibly because of these four characters play such similar roles.

Reyna is way more dangerous than Annabeth. Hands down. She'd rip Annabeth apart. No offense Annabeth lovers.

Well they aren't similar but like you said I mean they play the same roles it's sort of repetitive

I think we'll see more differences as the characters interact.

Reyna did so not replace Annabeth! I mean, not in the Percabeth way. She did have that sort of grimness that Annabeth had in TLH.

I think Leo and Frank were dissimilar enough, but Piper and Hazel were practically clones.

And I don't think she'd get ripped apart. I think in most cases she'd lose, but if it was to protect someone she loved than sure she'd win.

I don't think so, either...there's a certain desperateness when you're protecting someone you love. Or so I'm told. XD I hope none of us ever have to find out.

Well, yeah, Frank and Leo aren't the same at all. What I think Rick did was create a character who could joke around without Percy in TLH. Jason was too serious and Piper didn't joke as much. When it came to TSON, Percy was there, so Rick didn't make Frank such a joker.

Actually, that's true; however, I've not seen Reyna in combat, so I wouldn't know if she's really good.

How are they alike? Hazel is gentle but piper is sort of... a warrior.

I really didn't see why it was so surprising that frank was a son of mars! I guessed that in the beginning.

You know, Percy, that's a very good point. I right now have the Seven (Well, six...) divided into groups of three, and so it makes even more sense.

Unfortunately I can't take you up on your offer, because I quite agree. Although Hazel's had a (much!) more tragic past, I definitely saw the similarities. The first going around, I was kind of annoyed with Hazel, but I'm really warming to her. It's got to take a lot of courage not to bow to Gaea's plans.

Well, Hazel and Piper can both fight well. I'm not saying their exact clones of each other, cause that would be boring. In some instances, they're similar. Frank and Leo aren't close, though.

Yeah, no one's really bowed down to her from weakness, but from a need of vengeance on the Olympians. (I.e. Midas, Phineas, and etc.) Well, maybe cowardice can be considered weakness.

Well, Asmaa and Stephanie, do you guys think I don't know that? I know Frank and Leo play almost the same roles, but I also very well know they aren't similar in the sense that they have the same personalities. First of all, because that would be boring. Second, because Leo was made into the character he is because there was no other "clown" in TLH, as there was in TSON. And yeah, Ellie, Hazel and Piper sorta are similar.

Maybe. I was actually kind of disappointed with that whole scene in SoN where (view spoiler)[ Frank's using his fire thing. I thought for sure he was going to die, and I wouldn't be happy about that, but it was kind of annoying when he didn't, you know? Just....sort of like, I didn't feel Riordan was respecting the own rules he wrote. Of course, the wood was smaller. (hide spoiler)]
