Thanks Jacqueline. I've used that website myself. That's where I got my free copies of Primary Inversion (Saga of the Skolian Empire, #1) by Catherine Asaro and Sheepfarmer's Daughter (The Deed of Paksenarrion, #1) by Elizabeth Moon

Tell me again, which one is the one where you buy most of your sfr ebooks?

message 10: by AnnaM (new)

AnnaM (annamc) | 1111 comments I don't buy from any of these. They're blogs, author sites, and book recommnedation type sites. Most have an SF/R slant. I use the Sony store a lot because it's easy since I own a Sony, but I compare prices and find the small presses often have cheaper prices than Sony does.

I buy from:

booksonboard.com
fictionwise.com
www.allromanceebooks.com
http://www.omnilit.com/
www.samhainpublishing.com
www.diesel-ebooks.com
ebookstore.sony.com
smashwords.com
Amazon.com (and convert what I can via Calibre, or just read on the iPod.)

Or from the various ebook publishers directly. Or the Baen Free Library.

Many ebooks I have I got free, though, via Kindle freebies or from contests/giveaways. I enter a LOT of them. I've even won here on Goodreads. But I read a lot of books usually.

One thing I use the sites I listed in the other post for is to find new books or authors whose work I want to read. I often read an interview and visit the author's site. They have links to buy sites, sometimes to publishers that I wouldn't normally visit. I love to learn more about the genre too.

One tip to find new SFR books is to search on Amazon for the tag "SFR Brigade." All SFRB members are supposed to tag their own and other member SFR books with that tag. They have a *very* long list of authors now.

AnnaM (annamc) | 1111 comments The following is apparently a brand new SFR story/book review site:

Thanks AnnaM! That one looks really good. I'm going to see if I can get a copy of Love with a Chance of Zombies by Delphine Dryden for my nook.

C.E. Kilgore (cekilgore) Hey guys! I'm starting to go through these older posts to find some links for my SFR community pages:

http://www.tracingthestars.com

If you have any more to recommend, would love to see them.

SF Signal (http://www.sfsignal.com) and Amazing Stories (http://amazingstoriesmag.com) have both begun to include more SFR reviews and updates.

Great site!

Also, I have a list on my site from the research section of the MFA class on SFR I teach every few terms. If anyone has other suggestions for sites, books, or authors that I should include for next time, please let me know.

Rachel Smith (rlsauthor) | 44 comments Heidi, if you ever want to talk about male POV SFR, my A'yen's Legacy (My Name Is A'yen, The King's Mistress, To Save A Life out 54) series is mostly the hero's POV, and Laurie A. Green's Inherit The Stars is 100% the hero's POV.

And here's the archive of my posts for USA Today, most of which are SFR-related (but not all):

Tracy Cooper-Posey (tracycooper-posey) Was not aware that Google+ had groups. Although I barely spend any time there. Still an alien landscape for me.

Although I notice the same faces and names everywhere, including all the sites Merry mentioned.

The thing with Google+ (and not to hijack the thread) is that Google itself doesn't know what to do with it, or really even support it, so I do a very bare minimum of posting anything there. CNN reported it was beginning to be dismantled and others reported it with headlines like "sad failure" late this summer.

Not a huge surprise. I lost interest when I found out they wouldn't let me feed my blog RSS feed there.

I love the way you trot out "archive of my USA Today posts" like I would say "my blog posts". Very cool.

I followed the USA Today romance blog for a while, but SFR seemed to be pretty thin on the ground and I must be getting old or something -- I'm growing less and less interested in "normal" romance. :)
