I have to agree with everyone who says they like Robert Carlisle for Murtagh. He's pretty darn near perfect!

I know, try again. Sometimes it's the site you get it from.
I couldn't get the picture thing figured out. But I vote for Robert Knepper. He was in Prison Break. I am not sure what it is about him, but he is exactly who I see in my head when I read Murtagh.

Robert Carlyle would be PERFECT as Murtagh.
Robert Carlyle is one of my fav Scottish actors! His voice is like smooth butter! And he has the acting chops on top of all that charm! He's always been the only one I could see as Murtagh.
Murtagh is the big brother I wish I had!
I've said all along that when I read about Murtagh, that I picture Robert Carlisle. Guess he's too old to play the part now. I liked the character and wish he hadn't died, but he died saving Jamie!! I really don't like the Lord John Gray books - read one, that's all.
Loved Murtag in the dinner scene when he scolded Clair for teasing about kissing Leghair-isn`t there someway DG or the TV could bring him back,maybe he just has amnesia and Jamie wasn`t in good shape when he thought he had died.Jamie needs Murtag.`
I thought from the book that Murtagh was Jamie's uncle/godfather? I always pictured him older as a result...maybe he is older in this series (like 40!) but he doesn't really look older...
Ang I think he was Jamie`s Godfather and he`s a very nice looking guy he looks in his 30s to 40s to me .I had a friend who said she became a Godmother at 5 yrs old,so I guess there is no age limit.Theres a pic. somewhere on here of him and he looks awfully mean and scary and dirty in it.I so wish they would bring him back he`s my third fav character and also a darn good actor.
It was revealed that Murtagh had feelings at one time for Jamie's mom so I always pictured him to be a fatherly age to Jamie. It seems quite a few men had the hots for Jamie's mom, so I guess we know why everyone always seems to be attracted to Jamie =)
At first I didn't like this actor to play (Robert Carlisle) Murtagh because the book described him as monkey like, narrow Pictish face, small, wiry strength. But he is growing on me and I do like his luxurious beard. Enjoying the Starz program very much and can't wait for next Saturday.
I agree - he isn't how I envisioned Murtagh. I like him too!! He's my favorite of the secondary characters.
I love his character on the show way more than at this point in the books! It's the same with Frank. I never really thought too much about him and I could never figure out why Claire wanted to get back to him so much after she was with Jamie.
