I like the Anita Blake series. It changes along the way, but if your okay with a lot of sex, it's still okay. Some later books have less sex focus than others.

I love the anita blake series. I've read all 20 books! lol

Elle (Lost in Wonderland) | 37 comments I would also recommend the Succubus series aka Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead. I thought they were fantastic. It's aimed at an older audience compared to her VA series, but if you don't mind a bit of sex then I would highly suggest reading them.

Another great series is Virginia Andrews Dollangager books. The first one is:
Flowers in the Attic (Dollanganger Family) by Virginia Andrews

Some of the issues in the book are a bit sordid, but otherwise a good read c:

I didn't see this trilogy, so I thought I would add it. These three books blew me away and are by far some of the best fiction I have read in...well, EVER. And I am talking ALL genres! All three books are very well written: all three move quickly, the characters are well-written and likable (for the most part), and the story line is written in a way that makes Zombies believable. I don't want to say too much for fear of spoilers, but if you haven't read these, you should. Even the middle book is fantastic!

There is also a novella with a bit of the back story that's a good read too: Countdown by Mira Grant

I'm currently in the process of reading Anita Blake, and I'm in love with it! The main character, Anita Blake has got some great lines and traits that are really relateable. Plus shes the strong heroine type. If you can get to at least book 3 I think you will find it awesome. So far book 3 has been my favorite of the series.

Happy reading!

Elaine (ofdustandstarlight) Ahhh, I can't believed no one has yet to recommend these books. I only read some of them recently and they are way up there in my favourites list <3

These are the first in the series.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy, #1) by Sarah Rees Brennan If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins

Standalones
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver Monstrous Beauty by Elizabeth Fama

Also, I see a lot of people recommending Hush Hush, but I personally can't stand Mary Sue characters. These are some other angel books that are really well-written.

Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee

message 24: by Clare (new)

Clare dooley (claredooley) I would recommend "castle Auburn"- by Sharon Shinn, she also wrote an amazing series called "the Samaria files", but each book is so different that you don't need to read them in order(Angelica) was the first one I was blown away. So I would suggest...
1. Castle Auburn-Sharon Shinn
2,Keeper Chronicals-Tanya Huff
3.Angelica-Sharon Shinn

message 25: by Clare (new)

Clare dooley (claredooley) I also loved "Unwind" by Neal Shusterman & it has a sequel called "Unwholly", he. Also released a book called "UnStrung" but I'm not sure where that stands in the trilogy it may be a 1.5 or 2.5 . Regardless they are really good books. I couldn't put unwind down until the last page. Then I hunted down everything else the man wrote.

I had recommended Unwind in my post too. Hands down, my most favourite YA dystopian novel! Can't wait for the third to be out. UnStrung is actually a #1.5 novella, but the story takes place in the middle of the first book. It explains why Lev became a clapper in the first place.
