Introduce Yourself here (November 2011)
Phew, i made it here with no scratches.Im Lauren and I'm from Hull. Ive had my Kindle for 10 months and read more now than i ever have done. (which is surprising when you have a 1 year old)
Finding it all slightly confusing, when i log in its not clear were the discussion forums are?? and do i need to join every thread i want to wite in as i had to join something to write in here?? Its all confusing but i will keep chipping away at it.
Anyway thanks to everyone for their help on the amazon forum
Lauren
Hi Lauren,Welcome to the group. You have indeed made it. You can post anywhere on any subject. If you are an author we ask you to post promotions and news in either 'meet the authors' or 'new releases'. We don't have many rules and if you get stuck someone will always be along to help.
It is a bit confusing to start with but feel free to get involved
Hi Lauren! I think you only need to join a group in order to take part in that group's discussions. Once you're in the group, you should be able to comment on every thread :) Just ask if you can't figure something out, this is one of the most helpful groups on Goodreads. They really are a bunch of fantastic people and I'm SO glad I found them!!Oh, yes, and they're all totally insane. Completely and utterly. But it's a great place to discuss custard.
Er... yes, you'll understand that bit soon enough :D
I'm going to go now, in case I scare you off the forum altogether!
Welcome to our group Lauren!

Hello all!!Its ok Mhairi ive been told it would be good to mix with other insane people, such as myself :P
Welcome Lauren. If it's all too confusing just find your way back here. We'll lay down breadcrumbs for you. The gingerbread house is here somewhere....har har har he he he.Funny when the inmates are so easily confused with the jailers, isn't it?
Hi Lauren. It's good to hear that you're not under any illusion of sanity here.I have to say that sometimes it's only the other voices in my head that keep me sane.
Welcome Lauren,if you love to read on your Kindle then you are in the right place.Group reads, book recommendations, authors, new and old. Not to mention daily freebies. Most of all the friendliest, most helpful people who can keep you smiling all day long.
Hello Lauren - I don't live far from Hull myself and I've never seen anyone else with a kindle! I know there are a few about though.
Hi I'm Maureen or Mo. I love my kindle, especially freebies, i really like the Group Rules, very impressive. not use to group discussions so won't know jargon etc, but willing to try, my main motto never too old to learn, and yes of course I am getting there
Hi Mo, great to have you here, we all love freebies, go & check out the freebie thread posted daily by our lovely Karen who does all the hard work for us.I'm sure you will fit in well & it won't take you long to get into things round here. We are all a little mad but very friendly with it. Chat to you soon.
Gingerlily (with blackcurrant jelly and custard) wrote: "Don't forget the jelly. And the raspberry vodka."Isn't that ginger biscuits in custard?
Anita wrote: "e. We are all a little mad but very friendly with it."Lol - I was going to pick on "a little" ! But now it's gone up to "quite"... really we're TOTALLY mad !
Hi Mo and welcome to the group!!

I think Mo left. And honestly I don't blame her, for goodness sake GL did you HAVE to throw that bowl of custard over her as soon as she arrived? Not everyone likes that. Just you and Darren.Put it in a paddling pool and we can have a wrestling tournament later

This is DEFINITELY going to bring new members ! Shall we mention it on amazon?
Hi I came back, did someone mention insane ladies, not sure about the ladies but i do insane very well.
More male members& custard, who would not want to stick around. Lets agree on we are just a insane with raspberrys & custard.
Confession to make!!Mo is a good friend of mine & I was just trying to show her how polite & nice we can all be on here, how warm & welcoming, & then YOU LOT CAME ALONG & SPOILT IT ALL!!!
Clearly in a moment of insanity Anita, you forgot how insane we all are.there should be punctuation in there somewhere but i'm not entirely sure where exactly...
...ok I stuck a comma in does it make sense?
This is so much fun, just like being out with a group of mates, a good giggle with like minded people. To be honest i started with crime, (not doing it, reading about it), and read all sorts. I like hisrtorical mysteries, like to check out different belief systems, medical just all sorts. Looking forward to more good banter and book chatter. Thank you all for a lovely welcome.
My life is one long moments of insanity & a bit of custard helps it along nicely. Your comma is beautiful!
Nice to see everyone's been functioning as normal while I've been away :D Will be vanishing again in a few minutes. Just finished the first pass of that transcription job and had to take a break for a walk and some chocolate. The chocolate is chilling as we speak. Anything mad gone down while I was AWOL? Not counting this thread. I'm up to date here :DHi, Anita and Maureen!!!
Anita wrote: "Sarah hi!!!! have you brought any custard?"Sorry Anita,it all got devoured with the sticky toffee apple sponge(the third one made this week).I had quite a struggle with Gingerlily but told her we had to share nicely.

Please start by adding a post to our ‘Introduce Yourself ‘ thread. We are a nosey lot and would love to know who you are, what you like to read (and write), where you live and what you drink, eat, wear and grow.
This thread meanders off-topic quite a bit but as soon as a new member comes along our friendly but bonkers members soon appear to give you a warm welcome.
Of course you don’t have to introduce yourself if you prefer. You could head off to Meet The Authors, check out our monthly book selections. check out the New releases or play some Group Games
Even if you don’t feel ready to post something you are most welcome to sit back and watch the fun.
This forum is very lightly moderated (hardly noticeable), occasionally we will ask you to keep a particular thread on topic and we have a few simple rules about author threads and new releases.
There are plenty of ebook related threads, a wine discussion and a place to share your musical taste.
If you have any problems you can post questions on the threads, someone will come along and help. If you would rather not ask your question publicly by all means send a personal message (PM) to Patti or myself and we will try to help.
The plan is to clear the Introductions thread monthly to see if it makes things a bit easier for new members. Old Introductions can be found in the archive.
