Is there any difference between the book version and the radio version?

Yes. The radio play came before the books, and was used as the basis for the first 2 books, although there are some significant changes between the books and the radio play. Wikipedia has very detailed entries if you are interest in finding out exactly what the differences between the radio plays and the books are. I really enjoyed both the books and the radio plays of H2G2.

Yes! VERY different. There are some similarities, but on the whole every version is purposely different with the possibly exception of the BBC miniseries from back in the day which stayed pretty true to the plot of a couple of the books squished together.
