Wild Things: YA Grown-Up discussion

Leviathan by Scott Westerfield, known for his Uglies series, is a very exciting alternate history book. The characters include the prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and a female soldier posing as a male. The setting is science-fiction exciting with those who are Darwinists versus those who are Clankers [those who use, fabricate and modify animal species and those who believe in the use of machinery].

Has anyone else read this first in a series? Does this meet the definition of historical fiction although their are strong science fiction elements?

I've just finished up Leviathan on audiobook. Such an exciting book to listen to!

I agree that this can fall under different genres, I'd say sci-fi first, but definitely historical fiction as well. While the transportation may not be "real", the alliances and enemies certainly.

I love the idea of an alternate history!
