AP Lit. horror group discussion

So while reading, I didn't catch why her friend sent her to interview Aphrodite when it wasn't a real job. Why did Phil make it sound all legit? Pages 21 -24 is all about how Phil got Cass the job but later on it turns out that Aphordite isn't looking to be interviewed. I don't get why Phil does this.

And if Cass knows that Phil has screwed her over before, why does she come?

I really think that Phil wanted Cass to have this job because he sort of already knew what she was getting into. Phil wanted Cass to have an opportunity and another shot at doing what she loves to do, photography, because he wanted to help her and wanted the best for her. I'm not positive on this, it's just my intake and what I got from it.
As for why Cass agreed to go to Maine when she knew that Phil has screwed her over before, I just don't think that Cass ever gives a lot of thought to what she does unless it involves photography. For example, she never thinks twice about the drugs she takes, the alcohol she consumes, and all of the people that she sleeps with. The only thing she ever really gives thought to is photography and she does make careful decisions when it comes to that and knows what she wants. I think Cass is the type of person who does things for a reason (with photography at least), so I'm sure she knew what she was doing when she agreed to go. I think she knows that it is her last shot to pursue her photography career since she's getting old and she's a burn-out.
