A Year of Agatha Christie

Read as many Agatha Christie books as I can in 2012. Reading what I already have in paperback or on Kindle, or what I can borrow from the library in book or audio format.

A fabulous goal - every reader should appreciate the genuis of Agatha Christie at some point during their reading life.

I feel so old!!! I've read all the Agatha books several times! I'm ready to dive in again just because they are so much fun!!!

I love this goal! My favorite - so far - is And Then There Were None. So good and has a terribly creepy ending.

Hi Dalene I know this is an old comment and risk sounding like I'm late in saying any of this (lol) but if you are really into Christie I am in an Agatha Christie reading group! Check it out you or anyone interested if you have the chance!

Note: I tried to contact the mod of the group in hopes to reinvigorate this group but I want to bring it back no matter what starting hopefully in January!!

New Note: I am officially the mod! Welcome you or anyone who wants to challenge themselves to read Christie.

What more can be said about Agatha Christie? Undoubtedly one of the best criminal minds of the 20th Century ... or should that be crime writer ... no criminal mind is right, have to have had one to invent such intriguing crimes.

What a great goal- certainly one I'll be setting myself. I've finished all the Miss Marple's, now on to Poirot- read 3 of his as well as a standalone book- and then there were none- Many more to go, but it's only the start of the year and I'm a fairly fast reader- we shall see!!!
Great idea guys!!!

I've read them all many times. I love Miss Marple and Poirot....but I think they spawned too many imitators.

as an Agatha Christie fan, I strongly believe that Joan Hickson was the best actress to portray Miss Marple EVER. not only was the casting of Ms. Hickson in the role perfect, but the scripts and stories followed the books Christie wrote very well. these were done about 3 decades ago - roughly - but you can get all of them on dvds, rent them on netflix, etc. anyone who likes these Christie books are missing a treat if you haven't seen these.

Hello - I read quite a lot of AC in my early teens . . but lately I've been delving into her autobiography and other biographies of her. Miss Marple became a favorite after seeing the four movies with Margaret Rutherford in that role . . and that led to a discovery of a biography about her as well.

What fun! Have you read The Man in the Brown Suit? It is one of my personal favorites. I read it earlier this year.

OOOOH! I did this last year, sort of. It was my year-of-Marple and I had a great time reading them all. Have fun!

How fun! I've been on a mission to read the entire Crime Collection in 23 months. A portion of my blog is dedicated to this venture. Please stop by and leave comments, I'd love to continue chatting with all of you! http://anakalianwhims.wordpress.com/t...

Something I am trying to do this year as well! I have read all of Miss Marple, including short stories, but I am way behind on Poirot as well as Christie's other characters.

Oh, what a neat idea. I did this rather by accident because I let my young daughter read one Christie...and then another...and another. But to approve them for her youthfulness, I had to read each one before I would allow her.
The Mysterious Affair at Styles is my favorite Poirot. There's one scene that just makes me laugh out loud.
Miss Marple turned out to be our favorite sleuth.
Finally, there was this fun little book i found at Goodwill: English Country House Murders. It's all the edwardian sleuthing you could ever want! Short stories from many authors including Christie, all related to the same theme.

I just finished The Mysterious Affair at Styles. This is a good place to start if you want to read all Agatha Christie books. This is first Hercule book. It was really a fun mystery, with an intricate plot, humor and just a hint of romance.

I hope you are enjoying them. On a similar note I am trying to read all the Sherlock Holmes stories this year.

Yes, sounds wonderful! So how is it going?
