I couldn't find a German selection that I wanted to read - but you have reminded me of Hans Fallada.

No - he's been on my TBR list since I read about him in

Who's Who in Twentieth-Century Literature by Martin Seymour-Smith and learned that he changed his name to that of the wise self-sacrificing horse from the Grimm tale "The Goose Girl" - a childhood favorite.

The Seymour-Smith book (I still have my battered 1978 copy) is an interesting look at the first half of the 20th century and was my introduction to many major figures.

I hope so. There are so many different type of readings that would be done through this list, I am not sure how many I would like but I am ready to find out. :)

Havent decided. I am probably going to read my books at random except for group reads, are you going to read it too? I see you have it in ur list. Let me know about when you are planning to read it :)

I really wanted to read Death with Interruptions but I couldnt find it. So now I am reading Blindness.

Half of the books I have enlisted are the ones I am unable to find. Sad. One of the reasons why I have decided to read less books

I have read two of his work. Both have been tediously filled with details may be that is why I am procrastinating to read this but it has been on my to-read list for sometime. Though, I like history, so ur review tells me I might just get fascinated with the book :D

I am not realizing most of my books are from Asia and Europe. If I do this challenge Next year too, I would have to remember to balance all continents.

I've done the same. 33 of my 52 books are from Asia or Europe.

However, I think as long as you have a mix you are okay. I mean, think about how different Lebanon is to Japan, or Sweden to Macedonia, Indonesia to Uzbekistan, Estonia to Spain. They are huge, dense cultural spaces!!

My list is changing and though I am unable to make changes on lust here for now from my phone but I am making progress however small. Still I don't think I'll be able to complete the challenge as I set it for myself
