Alex Mueck (alexmueck) | 1 comments I thought Adam was depicted in a way that was believable in how he dealt with things. Did you interview men, base character on real life person or was it all just an author creation?

Hi Alex! Welcome! First of all, the idea for On the Big White Oak came when a friend of mine was having great difficulty getting pregnant and feared what her life might be like, should she not be able to conceive (being that it was always her dream to have a family of her own). From this, my character, Delia, was created. The story (as well as the characters of Adam and Marian) unfolded from there.
Adam was not based on any specific person I have known or interviewed - but more a combination of people I have known in the past (as well as figments of my imagination). I wanted him to be charming and unforgettable. I wanted him to be strong and intelligent. Yet, I knew that he would be flawed. Readers have had mixed emotions over Adam. In the end, I just wanted him to be human. And humans struggle. And humans make mistakes.
Thanks for your question!
