Let's not forget The Giving Tree. There are many ways to perceive this simple book but since this is in the Green Group you can view it as the planet giving and giving as is in it's nature until there is nothing left to give because man has taken so much.
Well it's a children's book. You should read it if you haven't, It's about a tree who loves a boy and the tree gives the boy everything until it's a stump.
If you are interested, non-fiction narrative of the adventures of those that climb and study the canopy of the big ones--the redwoods. Steve Sillett, one of the scientists was at University with me in Oregon. He is incredibly passionate about canopy study. The Wild Trees: A Story of Passion and Daring

yes I have that book Julia, as well as the earlier Meetings with Remarkable Trees. But i was looking for suggestions of old out of print books on trees really.
Maybe we should just rename the thread, Books on Trees, because I would like to hear about books on trees both old and new.
