Stephen King recommended author in Chapter 5 of Berkley's 1983 paperback edition of Danse Macabre.

Isaac Bashevis Singer (Yiddish: November 21, 1902 (see notes below) – July 24, 1991) was a Polish Jewish American author noted for his short stories. He was one of the leading figures in the Yiddish literary movement, and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1978. He is also well known for his memoir of his life, A Day Of Pleasure.
