This is just informative for those who are confused about all that confusing mythology.
The information here is mostly as shown in Riordan's books.

Major Gods


Zeus
Roman equivalent: Jupiter
He is the king of the gods and Mount Olympus. His mother is Rhea and his father is Kronos. He killed Kronos, freeing his brothers and sisters, and sliced Kronos to peices with Kronos's scythe. Then he scattered his body in the depths of Tartarus.
Zeus is the lord of the wind and the sky, king of the heavens. His symbols are the lightning bolt and the eagle. He has the master bolt as his greatest weapon, and he commands Aeolus, lord of the winds. He is married to Hera, who is also his sister. He is the brother of Posiedon, Hades, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera. His godly children are Athena, Apollo and Artemis, Persephone, Hermes, Ares, Hebe, Hephaestus, and Dionysus. He is one of the Big Three.

Poseidon
Roman equivalent: Neptune
He is the lord of sea, and the god of earthquakes and hurricanes. He is sometimes called the Earth-shaker. His symbols are the horse and the trident, because he created horses out of sea foam, and he fights with a trident. He is the son of Kronos and Rhea. He is the brother of Zeus, Hades, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia. His wife is Amphitrite, and he has one godly son, Triton. He is one of the Big Three and one of the twelve Olympians.

Hades
Roman equivalent: Pluto
He is god of the dead and of all the riches in the Earth, and he is lord of the Underworld. His lieutenant is Thanatos, god of Death. His symbols are the helm of darkness, which he fights with and can turn him invisible, and the Keys of Hades. he is the son of Kronos and Rhea, and the brother of Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia. His wife is Persephone. His godly child is Melinoe. He is one of the Big Three but not one of the twelve Olympians.

Hera
Roman equivalent: Juno
She is queen of the gods and Mount Olympus. She is goddess of marriage and family. Her symbols are the peacock, the peacock feather, and the cow, which is her sacred animal. She is known to be vengeful towards Zeus' demigod children. She is the daughter of Kronos and Rhea and she is married to Zeus. She is the sister of Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, and Hestia. Her godly children are Ares and Hephaestus. She is one of the twelve Olympians.

Demeter
Roman equivalent: Ceres
She is goddess of the harvest and of the seasons. Her symbols are the torch, the lion, the Cornucopia, and the sheaves of wheat. She is the daughter of Kronos and Rhea and the sister of Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, and Hestia. Her godly child is Persephone and she also bore a horse named Arion. She is one of the twelve Olympians.

Hestia
Roman equivalent: Vesta
She is goddess of the hearth and home. Her symbols are the fire, the hearth, the kettle, the candle, and the crane. She is the daughter of Kronos and Rhea and the sister of Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, and Demeter. She was originally one of the twelve Olympians, but when Dionysus was made a god she gave up her seat so as to stop the fighting tha erupted between the Olympians.

Aphrodite
Roman equivalent: Venus
She is the goddess of love and beauty. Her symbols are the dove, he swan, the rose, the mirror, the sparrow, the dolphin, and the sea shell. She was born from the immortal essence of Ouranos, and therefore the oldest Olympian. She is known to be very vain. She is married to Hepheastus.

Athena
Roman equivalent: Minerva
She is the goddess of wisdom and crafts. She is also the goddess of warfare and battle strategy. Her symbols are the owl, the olive tree, and the spear, and she is often shown wearing a war helmet. She is the daughter of Zeus. She is one of he maiden goddesses; she took a vow to remain a virgin. She is one of the twelve Olympians.

Hephaestus
He is the god of blacksmiths, technology, fire, and volcanoes. His symbol is the hammer and anvil, and the quail. He is the son of Zeus and Hera. He is the brother of Ares. His wife is Aphrodite. He is one of the twelve Olympians.

Ares
Roman equivalent: Mars
He is the god of war. His symbols are the wild boar and the two crossed spears. He fights with any weapon. He is the son of Zeus and Hera. He is the brother of Hephaestus. He is one of the twelve Olympians.

Hermes
Roman equivalent: Mercury
He is the god of messengers, travelers, thieves, and tricksters, anybody who travels the road. His symbols are the caduceus and the winged sandals. He is the son of Zeus and the father of Pan. He is one of the twelve Olympians.

Dionysus
Roman equivalent: Bacchus
He is the god of wine. His symbols are the leopard and the grape wine. He is the son of Zeus. He is one of the twelve Olympians.

Apollo
Roman equivalent: Apollo
He is the god of the sun, of healing and medicine, and of music and poetry. He is also the god of prophecy and he had the Oracle of Delphi. He and his sister Artemis are the twin archers, children of Zeus. His symbol is the lyre. He is one of the twelve Olympians.

Artemis
Roman equivalent: Diana
She is the goddess of the moon and the hunt, and of wild animals. She and her brother Apollo are the twin archers, and she is often depicted as a huntress. She is also the goddess of maidens and of virginity. She is one of the maiden goddesses. She is the daughter of Zeus. She is one of the twelve Olympians.




Minor Gods

Hecate
Roman equivalent: Trivia
She is the goddess of magic. She is also one of the maiden goddesses.

Iris
She is the Greek goddess of the rainbow, and shares Hermes' role as messenger of the gods. Although she has no symbol, she also carries the caduceus. She is the daughter of Thaumas and Electra and the sister of the harpies.

Nemesis
Roman equivalent: Invidia
She is the goddess of revenge and balance. Her symbols are the scales and the griffin. She is the daughter of Nyx and the sister of Thanatos and Hypnos.

Hypnos
Roman equivalent: Somnus
He is the god of sleep. His symbol is the branch dipped in the River Styx. He is the son of Nyx, the twin brother of Thanatos. Nemesis is his sister.

Khione
She is the Greek goddess of snow. She is the daughter of Boreas.

Persephone
Roman equivalent: Proserpina
She is the goddess of springtime and flowers. She is the Queen of the Underworld and the wife of Hades. She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter and the mother of Melinoe. She was tricked by Hades and trapped in the Underworld. Each year she returns to the land for half a year, which brings spring.

Melinoe
She is the goddess of ghosts. She is the daughter of Persephone, and her father is either Hades or Zeus. One side of her body is light and the other dark. This is sometimes interpreted as the dark representing Hades and the light representing Persephone. It can also be interpreted as the dark being Persephone and the light being Zeus.

Amphitrite
She is the Greek sea-goddess, the Queen of the Sea and the wife of Poseidon. She is the mother of Triton.

Morpheus
Roman equivalent: the Somnia
He is the god of dreams. His symbol is the poppy. He is the son of Nyx. His siblings include Thanatos, the Hesperides, and Hypnos.

Thanatos
Roman equivalent: Letus
He is the personification of death. He is the lieutenant of Hades and he regulates the Doors of Death. He is shown as a great black-winged man.

Hebe
Roman equivalent: Juventas
She is the goddess of youth and the cupbearer of the gods. She is the daughter of Zeus and Hera and the wife of Heracles. She had two children, Alexiares and Anicetus.

She just tells random heroes to eat their grain and go plowing on a farm for character building. Oh and tells Persephone that she could have married the god of doctors or lawyers... yeah =D
