question
Am I the only one who went from loving to hating this series?

It started out with so much promise........I felt this series should beno longer than 8 books long and I don't understand why it's still going one......the first 2 books in a series should be where your still trying to figure out what's going on and whose bad....books 4 and 5 are when you realize the bad guy isn't who you thought and it changes your whole persepective on the characters......by book 6 or 7 you should be reaching the climatic fight scene......this series is dragging on for no damn reason....I read all these books waiting for the big Kalona/Neferit fight scene and they fought for five seconds and then Kalona and Neferit just flew away....What the hell???I was so annoyed......Then of course the only human has to die....Zoey like passes out from a broken heart, Stevie-Rae is in love with a raven mocker, Zoey becomes a slut and Aphrodite gets in a committed relationship...who saw that coming....All the back and forth between Heath and Erik doesn't even matter because now she wants Stark...and they try to make Erik all possessive all of a sudden as if that makes her wanting Stark ok now...it doesn't.....Zoey won't curse but she'll have sex, makes no sense.Between two writer's this should be the best series ever and it started strong, unfortunately it is starting to drag on for me.......

no matter what anyone says about this series i absolutely LOVE it! Its one of my favourite series EVER. But if you really dont like this series i recommend the FALLEN series by LAUREN KATE its about fallen angels, another one of my FAVOURITE series. <3
P.C.Cast usually write so much better, I personally adore the Divine series, but this one, is just bad... It should have ended a long time ago...
The few first books were good, and real teenbooks, but now, it just seems like they write to make money, and not to tell the story of Zoey and the others...
Can't really stand it, when authors do that.
It's better to end storyline, while the going is still good, even if that means, that fans have to say goodbye to characters they love...

I don't understand why they keep dragging it on. I mean what number are they on now?? And we know how it's goiong to end...The good guys will win...That Angel guy will be welcomed back by nix blah blah blah end this shit already.
I read the first 8 books of this series, and became more and more disappointed as I went along. How I made it through 8 books still baffles me. When I got book 9 from the library, I read maybe 2 chapters, closed the book, and returned it the next day. I told myself, "There are so many other books you could be reading. Why do you continue to waste your time with this series?" I think about all the good books that I could have read instead and it makes me sick. I've since learned my lesson. If I'm not on-the-edge-of-my-seat-anxious for the next book, I don't continue the series, regardless of how much my OCD may protest.
I feel the same way, but damn it is hard for me to give up a series now that I've read so many of the books. I have an inner dialogue that I've come this far, I might as well go further.
i started out hating it cuz it was boaring and stupid but then i loved it cuz of all the action but i dont like it again. currently i dont hate it or love it.
After reading the sixth book, I wanted to know how Zoey's soul comes back, but I was so disappointed with that book, that I couldn't read book 7 (most of book 6 felt like a fille o me), I only read the first few chapters and I'm not motivated to continue reading the series anymore. Since I want to know how the series ends, but not waste my time reading the books, so I've decided that I'm going to read the last book, I don't care if I don't understand most of it. They should just hurry up already, I'm pretty sure they lost a lot of fans (like me, I used to love this, but not anymore).
I'm afraid I have to agree with most of you.. I haven't even read the last installment.
The thing that irritated me the most: the Gleesongs.. Sure I like Glee, but it just didn't fit into the story. I'm disappointed, because the series started out great, but I'm still not sure if I will read it to the end.

Believe me, you are not the only one. The recent books are bad at best, sickening at worst.
I got to book 7, half way through, put it down and haven't looked back. It just got too random and stupid. The characters were at a stand still and nothing ever REALLY got accomplished. Neffer need to kill over and everyone needs to move on. Bird-boy was just too weird of a story line. And I would have liked it a heck of a lot more if they had just stuck with the vampire theme and never done the whole stupid fallen angel nonsence.
I still love it, even if it is forever long. I actually like long series better, im going to be sad when it ends.
I do not hate it, but I do not like it as much as I did before. It feels more like a money making venture than a true work of love now. I do not mind waiting a few months after one is released for me to get it from the library unlike most series where I want it now.

I liked the series untile she did it with Blake. Then Eric take her back and like a day later breaks up with him and git bonded with Stark.I like Stark but he deserves better.
Yes! Totally agree with you! I'm still waiting for Zoey to be the bad ass I thought she would be and kick Nefret and Kalonas butt. Butt (haha) maybe that will have to wait maybe for a whole other series to come out???
The only reason why I continue to read this series is because I want to know what happens in the end.
After the fifth one i new it was over. I wasnt going to suffer another five. It did promise a lot in the beginning but P.C. and Kristen Cast became lazy and started pumping out these awful paper backs. Just goes to show you that paranormal romances suck altogether. Because the Marked Series was so god awful i finally broadened my views and started branching out to bigger and better things. Now when i look at the teen section of bookstores, i just keel walking and smile. It brought me joy for a short period of my preteen years.
I did go from loving this book to only making it through half of the fifth book, I have not read anymore of this series since the fifth book and again I never finished it.It went from a great to too much drama to keep up or love.
i also thought it was dragged on for a long time. i really liked it at tthe first 6..then i got annoyed at how they changed role for characters..new characters. pointlessly being drawn out. i gave the whole thing to half price books and was glad to be rid of it!!!
come on guys i think those books are really amazing...alright there are many books in the series but i think zoey's life is really interesting and especially the fifht book was amazing and i really can't wait for the next book to come out...some of you may hate this series but that's okay...we all have different opinions about some books, we can't force someone to hate or like something right??? :)
The only thing that is keeping me waiting for the next book is to find out how the story will develop with a piece of Kalona being inside Stark.
Other than that, series are not meant to be this drawn out unless they are Harry Potter. That is all.

I definitely went from loving to hating this series too. I was never impressed with the writing but the story was at least genuinely entertaining for the first 5-6 books. It was around then that the series took a nose dive and I think it was also around then the authors declared House of Night would be an 11 or 12 book series. I think it is pretty obvious that they are just dragging it out in an attempt make more money. Unfortunately, I think it is only going to result in losing readers. It's really a shame.
And you are right. The no cursing thing is stupid. It's a silly line to draw (she compromises on everything else) and its annoying to hear "bullpoopie" all of the time. I quit the series. I'm so annoyed by the whole thing I don't think I will ever read anything else by the Cast's.
I would suggest the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead instead if you haven't already read it.

I have read all the books and no i don't hate but can't wait for Neferit to get what is finally due to her and I think they are drawing out the story.
However, I agree with your remarks about the language of Zoey. I don't think she's a slut as far as I know she's only been with that Professor who mislead her and Stark even though I know Heath and Erik both wanted a piece of her her. I'm kinda looking forward to the next book because the last book left off with that creature that was made which I think has Heath's personality deep in him and that's why he's so attracted to Zoey. They leave you hanging at the end but yet the same time are drawing it out too much.
