Heather | 3 comments I really enjoyed the Outlander series and Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series. Can anyone recommend other time travel highlander stories that are similar?

Shiran | 4 comments I'm trying my best to get through KMM's 3rd book is the Highlander series but I must admit I'm disliking it greatly. Though I did enjoy the first 2. I suggest Awaken the Highland Warrior it's got the time travel element but in reverse to KMM's stuff. I don't think I've ever loved a book as much though. It's amazing and the time travel element works well. :)

Mslvoe | 76 comments You should try Lynn Kurland's works. Also Debbie Mazzuca, who does do time travel.

Laura (highlandhussy) | 654 comments None of these are similar to Outlander, but they are all really great Highland Time Travels.

I think that KMM's series really picks up with the 4th book, Kiss of the Highlander and it is definitely one of my fave series.

Try Veronica Wolff and Anita Clenney

Both Catherine Bybee and I write Highland time travels as well.

Emily Minton (EmilyMinton) Of course, KMM's Highlanders is my fave. I really like Daughters of the Glen by Mellissa Meyhue. I would recommend them to anyone like KMM's books.

Jocelin | 288 comments I will say that the Daughters of the Glen series by Melissa Mayhue has been hit or miss with me. I think that she is a very talented writer but, some of her characters haven't really grabbed me. I am anxious to read Awaken the Highlander by Anita Clenney.

Emily Minton (EmilyMinton) I have been working on the Outlander Series. I love the story of Jamie and Claire, but OMG all the useless details have ruined the story for me. A 400 page story streched out to 900 pages. UGH....

Anne (spartandax) I had the same thoughts. After about the third book, and yes, I read all seven, I found that they dragged a lot. I hated when the went to America. I would much rather they stayed in Scotland or Europe. But the characters are entrancing.

Ashley the Magnificent™ (ashleythemagnificent) | 44 comments Me and the Outlander series have come to an agreement. I will read just the first book, to appease my curiosity and my mother-in-law, and it and its pseudo-Highlander spawn will never plague my to-read list ever again. haha

When a series reaches a certain length, I am always reminded of a joke from Spaceballs the Movie:
"God willing, we'll all meet again in Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money"

Harriet Schultz | 42 comments Although I loved Outlander and the books that followed, I also thought that Diana Gabaldon was packing it with everything she'd learned during her research and that a lot of the information had little to do with the story and, in fact, was showing off. Yet I was mesmerized by the story, since she's a great storyteller. And I loved Jamie Fraser and the words that came out of his mouth! I agree with Anne, that the story was less engaging for me once it moved to America.

You might be interested to know that a newspaper in Scotland (!) just ran a story about me and my book, Legacy of the Highlands! So exciting!

Anne (spartandax) Hi Harriet,
What a thrill for your book. I have love scotland all my life(I am 70) and as I am adopted, knew little about my parentage. I finally met my birth mother in 2001, but she said she knew nothing about my father except his name. Last fall, I took the gamble to have my DNA analyzed. I was thrilled to find I have Scottish ancestry. As well as Welsh, English, Irish,Romanian, german and greek. As well as Italian and Swiss from my mothers side. I am a true melting pot. But it is the scottish in my that I hold most dear.

Hi Anne,
I'm so happy the DNA analysis turned up interesting information about you...I'm very tempted to do it too, but haven't taken the plunge yet. It's fascinating that a genetic link that you've been unaware of shows itself in your interests.

Erica (slayer1star) | 27 comments I absolutely loved Anita Clenney's Highland novels, she puts a fine art to her works to make them fresh and original, her stories take you on a rollercoaster ride, one you want to go on again and again. Start with Awaken The Highland Warrior you will absolutely fall in love with Faelan, I did. Embrace the Highland Warrior is just as awesome also.
