It had been five weeks, three days, and three hours - give or take a handful of minutes - since the disease had broken out.Krista walked down the almost entirely abandoned interstate, her black leather boots scuffing against the pavement. Over her shoulder was a backpack filled with food, ammunition, and water. She glared up at the sun that beat down on her and brushed her hair from her eyes. At least she would have a few more hours of walking before she'd have to worry about a place to sleep.
"Hell." she muttered. "I might even be able to find a car out here."
The interstate was cluttered in parts with cars that'd either run out of gas, or been abandoned in the terror of a zombie attack. Krista was hoping to find one with at least a half tank of gas and some keys, though she knew how to hot wire if she had to.
Up ahead she could make out three vague shapes, three people. Three zombies. She squinted and was only able to make out that one was eating a person sprawled on the pavement. They were fresh, which probably meant the dead zombie she'd passed a quarter mile back had been killed by one of these three, but still managed a bite. She took cover behind a car, checked over her shoulder, and aimed her gun. Carefully, she sent three shots out, two at the head of the first, and one at the second. A satisfied grin passed her lips when they wavered, let out a dying scream, and collapsed.
Krista stood and peeked into the car. She grinned when her gaze found keys in the ignition.
"My lucky day." she chuckled, checking the trunk and back seat before climbing in the car. The tank was almost full, which would mean a good distance covered that day. She revved the engine and sped sown the road, making sure to hit at least one of the dead zombies on her way.
Leah was walking by an abandon hospital. She was on the search for survivors. She had a backpack full of ammunition and kept her 2 pistols in hands at all time. She heard the quiet screams of the zombies in the distance. The louder. She ran behind a car and was waiting.
Why Kansas?Kansas of all the places to go! Krista had been mulling over this for a long while now. She had to drive from California to Kansas, and to be frank she had no idea where the hell she was at the moment. It was a pretty pressing matter.
It made no sense. Her whole life she'd lived in California with her parents, and now suddenly they wanted to go to Wichita Kansas two days before the disease started spreading? It made no sense at all.
Fed up with thinking it over, Krista accelerated the vehicle further. She gripped the wheel tighter and took a breath.
"Please let Abbey be okay." she murmured under her breath.
The only good thing about Wichita Kansas was that it was half way between California and Maine. She'd heard from a group of survivors a week back that up in Maine there was a safe place entirely untouched by the zombies. It was a stretch, but worth a shot.
The zombies rounded the corner as she started shooting them. "more then i expecteed." she said as she kill5 of them. when they got closer she jumped up and started running. A group of over 200 zombies were chasing her. She started shooting as she ran. Hitting some here and there.
"you stuiped bast**ds." she screamed at them.
"you stuiped bast**ds." she screamed at them.
This was supposed to be simple. It was supposed to be a one shot done mission. And then she heard their undead, animalistic screeches. Krista winced and sped up the car. There was someone sprinting away, but she wasn't stopping.
"I'll just give a little help." she muttered, swerving behind the girl. She plowed through the zombies - rotting fingers snapping like twigs and scratching at the metal of the car. She plowed dozens of them down with her enormous four wheel death trap, and threw her door open to knock one back. She slammed it shut before another could get inside and veered back on the road, speeding off, leaving a trail of dead zombies.
Leah stopped dead i her tracks. She shot the reat of the zombies that were still alive. she looked at the vehicle.
Krista slowed only momentarily. She screeched to a stop and pulled out her gun. Quickly loading, she jumped out of the vehicle and swung the gun around."Get the f-ck off my car!" she cried anomalistically, letting a shower of bullets pelt Teo struggling zombies who'd latched on. She grinned when they fell off, satisfied with the heavy thuds.
"There." she muttered and climbed back into the driver's seat.
Krista merely gave a thumbs up out the window. Now, to Wichita. I have to get to Abbey right this instant. she thought spitefully, revving the engine.
She hit the gas and the tires screamed in protest. The giant car kept forward and sped off, leaving tire marks like scars in the earth. "I'm coming Abbs.."
For all it was worth, the enormous car was a gas guzzler. Only three miles out Krista ran out of file. She resigned to stay the night in the car - away from the zombies - and huddled in the back seat for warmth.
Leah started wlakign again. Not knowing were she was going or what will happen. She had nothing to life for so now she wanted to jsut kill the zombies then burn them.
Krista slept most of the night. Her dreams were unhappily riddled with a zombified version of Abbey.
Leah didnt sleep that night. She noticed a big car ont he side of the road. The one the girl was driving. She took her guns and aimed it down. she wasnt ganna let any zombie jump out of it. She krept up to the window quietly.
Krista woke in a cold sweat. She jolted awake and gripped her gun close to it. Anxiously, she flicked on the light attached to the underside, making sure she was alone again.
Leah jumped to the winodow and aime dthe girl down htinking she was a zombie. swhen she relized she wasnt she putt the guns down slowly. "sorry. Thought you were. on eof them"
Krista pointed tge gun directly between the girl's eyes. Her aim didn't waver. "Who are you?" she demanded in scold, serious voice. "And why are you following me?"
"whoa" she held her hands up. " wasnt following you. I was wwalking. rembered the vehicle and thaught they got you"
Krista exhaled slowly. She lowered her gun and nodded, hoisting herselg up. "You.." she murmerd. "The one with the zombies."
She nodded and sat herself up, sighing. "Well, I had to rush off because I'm sort of trying to get somewhere. The thing is, my car's out of gas."
She shook her head. "I have nothing to carry it in." she replied. "I'll find another car, or hijack if I can."
She shook her head. "It's north. I'm going east. I'm sure I can find a way.." she was cut off by blinding headlights. Squinting, she grinned and clicked the safety off her gun. "Watch and learn."
As soon as she was sure the car was close enough, she sent a bullet flying. It peirced the front window, leaving a perfect circle hole. The breaks screamed to a halt close by, and she lept out, gun drawn."Out of the car!" she snapped, throwing open the passenger side door. "Out of the car now!"
"Holy shit!" the guy inside cried, scrambling out and falling to the pavement on his hands and knees. "Don't shoot, don't shoot!"
"Keys." Krista spat at him, thrusting the barrel of her gun hard against his ribs.
"In the ignition!" he whimpered, putting his hands on his head.
She pressed the gun against his skin and smiled. "Good boy." she replied, looking to Leah. "See what good I can do?"
She chuckled and smiled wickedly down at the guy. "Well, I'm headed to Wichita." she said surely. "So I should be going."
Krista could've spat at her. "This is life or death. If you two want to die, go ahead. Life is on the other side of this country, and I'm going." she snapped. "If you wanna tag along you have to deal."
(( is the guy your other character? or jsut some random dude haha ))
"what do you mean lif eon the other side of the country?"
"what do you mean lif eon the other side of the country?"
(xD my Colton)Krista sighed. "If you get in, I'll explain on the way." she replied, hopping in.
The young man struggled to his feet. He looked between the car and Leah, hesitating.
"I don't know for sure..." trailed Colton. "But I think she'll do anything to survive. Which probably means we're - in a weird sense - safer with her."
(( alrightly :P ))
She nodded. " im pretty sure we are" shee said as she got in the car. But not in the front seat. In the back.
She nodded. " im pretty sure we are" shee said as she got in the car. But not in the front seat. In the back.
Colton climbed in the back as well. He picked up his shotgun uneasily and sat back. "So, safety?""Maine." Krista prompted, driving quickly down the road. "There's a place untouched by the disease."
"No." Krista shrugged. "But what good is it sitting around when we can find a place that might be safe?"
she nodded. "if nothign to live for. Travel on" she mummbled to herself as she looked out the window. She started thingk abotu her stepdad and how he beat her. The scars on her arms started to hurt. She gently touched the one on her let arm. it was from her shoulder to her wrist. Its from where her stepdad took a knife to her.
Krista sped along. Her mind was always full of Abbey. There was no way she would let anyone stop her on her mission. "Nothing against either of you, but we're not making extended pit stops."
Her heart was racing as she continued on running. I have to calm down to live. Find a vehicle. Trying to thing she kept her gun firmly in her hand. I'm the last person on earth. THis is pretty ridiculas.
Wichita.Wichita. Wichita. Wichita.
That was where she was headed, and that was where she needed to be. Right now, actually. There was no waiting, she had to get Abbey.
"Faster." she muttered, pressing harder on the gas pedal. "Faster..."
"whoa if you dont be careful were ganna wreck" she said. " would you rather get there alive then have the risk of wrecking and not finding a car for days.?"
She quickly ran across the road not paying attention to the speeding car that was coming her way. The only thing she knew was the wind in her hair and there was a flesh eating zombie behind her. The press of the accelerater echoed in her head as she stopped to take another shot, looked and there was a car. Standing in the middle of the road she wanted to draw attention, but it didn't slow down. Jumping at the last minute she scream. Ok, maybe not the last person on earth but the last freaking sane person on earth.
"Shut up or get out." Krista growled, keeping her speed. The car ran easily over the zombie that'd stupidly wandered onto the road. "I have shit to get done."
"whoa" she said poutting her hands up. "just rying to help" she looks over at teh boy. "im leah btw"
