Best, worst and weirdest...

Worst part is thinking whats for dinner.
Weirdest part is realizing that I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to helping my son with his middle school math homework.

Worst part is trying to help my (almost) 15yo with her homework - Honors classes are beyond my capabilities. =/
Funniest is when my fiance gets home. 2 1/2yo runs around announcing "Daddy home!" for about 3 minutes straight.

Worst part is when my boss belittles me.
Funniest/weirdest part is when my family consistently says day after day, "what's for dinner?" when they know day after day I have absolutely no clue.

--Best part was getting a seat on the bus this morning. It was much more crowded than usual and several people were stuck standing for the nearly 50 minutes it takes to get from our park and ride to downtown. I get most of my daily reading done during my commute but I’m not coordinated enough to handle reading and standing at the same time so if I’m standing, I can’t read my book.
--Worst part was sitting through a scheduled 2-hour conference call that ran over the allotted time. One of the speakers was from Saudi Arabia and he had a very thick accent so on top of struggling to understand what he was saying, the phone-line connections there are very unreliable so he kept getting dropped and we had to wait for him to pop back in (which probably explains why it ran over).
--Weirdest part was being woken up by my cats this morning, which I realize isn’t “funny” per se or “weird”, and I’m pretty sure that my husband and I are probably the only two people who think our cats are the cutest/coolest/awesomest/funniest cats on the planet, but it’s very true, they are the funniest cats ever and when they want to be fed in the morning time, they will take all kinds of drastic measures (this morning it involved dragging a noisy plastic wrapper from the top of a bottle of contact solution that I threw away last night into the bed and chewing on it while sitting on my husband’s back).
Yesterday:
Best part was having my sister bring her puppy by for me to babysit. Last night I decided didn't want to give her back.
Today:
Best part has been snuggling with her on the couch while I'm vedging.
Worst part has been discovering she really ISN'T potty trained.

Best: Discovering I passed all my classes!
Worst: Getting a packet of like 15 pages of work due by Friday.
Weirdest/Funniest: Tripping 5 times in 10 minutes in gym.

Worst of yesterday-- the weather. Ugly and dreary grey skies. And cold.
Weirdest of yesterday-- making a new dish I was SURE my boyfriend would hate and he didn't. He loved it in fact. Weird.

worst is when my youngest doesn't sleep well and I go for days on cat naps.
Weirdest- my daughter's funny stories she tells, where does she come up with this stuff?

Best part - picking up Antonio from daycare and him being so sweet!
Worst part - had some emotional issues creep up that I wasn't ready for.
Funniest part - watching Antonio and my brother tease each other about how Antonio's name looked like "Anjonio" when he was writing it. (He's just learning the whole writing thing! And they teach this fancy, curvy way of writing now!)
Best part - making lemmon poppyseed muffins for my husband's cross country team at BYU and giving it to them in the van on their way to regional competition. Seeing the smile on their faces...then coming home to a house that smelled so good.
Worst - Not tasting the muffins. Spending over an hour combing out burrs from my sister's dog's fur. And here I was chuckling as I watched her traipse around the back yard and go behind the dogwood bushes. Little did I know what lay in store for both of us. Poor Piper! I gave her a bath and then we snuggled for a long time on the sofa, but she's hiding under the bed now...probably sleeping away the trauma of it all!
Weirdest - Going to the eye surgeon's office for a checkup on my cataract surgery and discovering that my now 20/20 vision is getting bad again. I was two lines worse on the eye chart, darn it all. He told me they rate cataracts from 1 to 4 and mine had been a 4++ before the ole operoonie. (In other words, off the chart. Blind. He said the digital image of it looked like a snowstorm :o) They couldn't get it all when they did surgery last month, so I get to have the rest 'vaporized' in February with laser. Very cool. My bionic eye will be better than ever! In the meantime, it's getting harder and harder to write.

Worse - When I'm in the middle of writing an intense scene in my book and a fellow church member calls and wants to talk, and talk, and talk . . .
I lose my train of thought and have to fight to get back on track.
Weirdest - I can't think of any specific one. Too many to mention:o)

Worst: Having to get up at 6:30 to go to work!
Weirdest: Realizing I'm very quickly leaving my 20's.

I know it's not the end of the world and I'm still young, blah, blah, blah...but it's just weird.
You never know...here I am at 46 and loving it gray hair and all! Ditto to Holli's comments. You'll be surprised at how wonderful it is to move into this next chapter of your life, Kristen. It's either that, or kick and fight it the whole way! LOL

Best- My husband telling me that I'm the greatest thing that has ever happened to him. I love priceless moments. :)
Worst- I had to honk at a wreckless driver who cut me off and almost caused an accident. Some people are so rude.
Weirdest- I accidentally deleted the recycle bin from my desktop on my new computer (I panicked!) but eventually found it again! Silly me.

Best part of my day: talking to my mother on the phone & hearing her voice sound stronger after battling with walking pnemonia for about a month, and... having my puppy greet me when I get home so happy to see me and... having books I put on hold at the library show up today in time for the weekend, and...it is Friday! Seems to be a lot of "bests" for me!
Worst part of my day: Not getting finished with my "to do" list at work.
Weirdest: Coming home to an empty house, which would be a good/relaxing thing if I knew where everyone was at!
Best part - Being with my mom and sister who helped me comb the rest of the burs out of Piper's fur. There's nothing like being with the one's you love.
Worst part - not wanting to fix dinner for lil ole me. (Patrick's out of town...)
Weirdest / Funniest - Listening to my sweetheart's message on the phone, thinking it was going to be full of 'I miss you's' and discovering the whole message was about being sure to record the football game today.

Worst: Bad pain days with my neck, back, and hands - but I know a lot of people's physical problems are much worse, so I keep mine in perspective.
Hadn't thought about birthdays in this context, but I'll turn 50 tomorrow, and thinking about it, it is a bit strange. I got The Letter from AARP this week - now, THAT is something to adjust to. Other than wishing some physical damage undone, though, I would not want to go back to any younger time in my life.

Worst: I didn't get any housecleaning done..can't you tell how upset I am..lalala..hehe
Weirdest: Why my four year old seems to think that going out and rolling in the mud should make me laugh. It does but don't tell him! :)

Worst...having my kids compete for my attention.
Weirdest...having three clients call about bankruptcies.
Best - Taking my sister's dog for a walk and laying on the grass while she snoozed beside me. Then, tonight, going through my daughter's photos of her first year and posting them on my facebook page so she can see them for her 19th birthday.
Worst - Eating chocolate for lunch and nothing else!
Weirdest - Wanting to just sleep all day.

Hey, let's put up a recipe thread! We'll keep this one for best worst and weirdest...of course some of us may be posting best, worst and weirdest all around the subject of food here in a short while! I'm posting a thread in a new folder. Just look further down. My mouth is already watering. . .
Today's best worst and weirdest are all the same thing if that's possible . . . and it's only 9 in the mornin'.
Best is I had insomnia and was up at 2:30--no going back to sleep--so I got online and printed up driving directions and maps for my son's and my Thanksgiving trip next week in Massachusetts. We'll be having Thanksgiving dinner at Plimouth Plantation, yes, spelled with an 'i'. How cool is that? (Not the spelling, but the trip ;) -- a Victorian dinner with people in costume, singers, and authentic menu.)
We'll be staying in this awesome new hotel across from Minuteman National Park in Lexington that lends out bikes for riding on the trails. Our room has a full kitchen, HD TV with DVD player and a Wii in the lobby. Staying there for half price isn't a bad thing either. :)
Worst is having a wicked headache after being up in the middle of the night. It happens every few weeks so at least I don't deal with it every night. Thankfully.
Weirdest is having to retrain my sleep-deprived brain to be mom for a week after being little miss focused writer and goodreads lurker. I am going to be pretty scarce here for awhile while I have some family time. And that's a great thing!

Wow Karey, I'm a little jealous. Your Thanksgiving Trip sounds like it's going to be so much fun. :0)
Best: speaking of insomnia mine finally let up a little and I've been able to sleep. Yeah!
Worst: My son is having a serious 3 hour tantrum.
Weirdest: Trying to deal with it in a positive way.

Oh boy, the tantrums. I have a sister that deals with that. It's hard for everyone concerned. I'm sending good thoughts your way, Kathy!
It should be, especially since I'm coming armed with Nerf guns and lots of spare darts for some hotel fun! I'm bringing fleece blankets that we'll knot the ends for a project, too, for his Christmas present.

Best part is coming home to my 3 basset hounds. One of them give 'schnerkels' (ear nibbles) and it just makes my day.
Worst part is my mornings at work. I'm the one that people call when they call out of work. Every morning is a chaotic scramble to cover for everyone.
Weirdest is the reasons they call out. I hear some pretty strange excuses why someone can't come to work.

Worst: That our mild winter has decided to turn into the typical North Dakota winter finally and has been dumping on us almost all day.
Weirdest/Funniest: That my cats have learned that I only try ignore them in the morning for about 15 minutes before I get out of bed to see what it is they think they need.
They don't drink out of a water dish, the water in both bathroom sinks is left running a little. (A habit that was created by a leaky faucet when we brought them home 3 years ago.) They get fed at night before I go to bed, and their litter box is cleaned every night when I get home from work.
So they are generally just waking me up because they aren't sleeping anymore and think that because it has been 6 hours since we have actively played with them it is time for someone to wake up. To do this they take turns crawling under the blanket right by my face and then nudging their heads under my chin or into my armpit.

Worst: I had to watch the Miley Cyrus video premire.
Weirdest/Funniest: I saw Fall Out Boy perform on T.V, and like kissed Patrick on the T.V... my mom was just staring. It was so retarded... I love him!:D
I ♥ Carlisle Cullen: I wish I'd been a fly on the wall next to your mother during Fall Out Boy! Too funny.
Best: Sleeping in and being able to remember an amazing dream I had that went on forever. I dreamt that my twin sister and I had walked into an antique store, where we discovered a back door that led into the home and courtyard of a huge, Italian family that was cooking dinner. A long table full of aunts, uncles, grandparents and children were eating, laughing, and toasting each other. They welcomed us with open arms. There was a big celebration going on, and even though I was a bumbling guest that spilled a huge glass of water on the carpet, no one cared, and I had never felt more loved or at home.
Then, a few hours later my twin sister called on the phone and wanted to do a conference call with my other sister. She said, "Are you both sitting down?" My other sister squealed, "You guys bought the house!" So, this was actually the best part of my day: learning that my twin sister is going to be living close by.
Worst: Missing my husband who is away at Foot Lockers in California.
Weirdest: Looking at my hair in the rear-view mirror after I hopped in the car to go see my sister's soon-to-be home a few miles away. I was on the phone with them while I was driving, I admit it, and they when I looked in the mirror and gasped, they said, "Are you alright?" I started laughing and said, "I look like one of the Bay City Rollers. I'm driving in public with the worst bed head of my life. The left side of my hair is sticking straight up." I stopped at my other sisters to show her, and when she walked out on her lawn and came up to my car with the phone to her ear so our other sister could hear, she started laughing uncontrollably, "It's so 70's!" I took a picture of it on my phone and sent it to my twin, calling it, "The house tour toupee." Seriously, it looked like a bad wig.

Worst: computer problems while I'm trying to edit a manuscript
Wierdest: Looking down and seeing that I still have my slippers on at the post office.

Best: Having lunch with a girlfriend since elementary school, and just sitting around talking and laughing for a couple of hours. Then going to a Christmas concert with my family.
Worst: Having a sore tastebud.
Weirdest/Funniest: Getting a tastebud on the tip of my tongue caught in between my two bottom, front teeth when I was flossing. It was awful! I wouldn't wish a dangling tastebud on anyone. Ever.

So, fill me in. I'd love to know the best, worst and weirdest parts of your day. I only ask that your language be clean, your stories respectful of young eyes that might read them, and that you don't say anything that would ever embarrass you or your family.
