RIN ಠ_ಠ (wriggrin) | 9 comments Hi guys, I'm looking for a book wherein the heroine dresses a boy and joins a ship...a pirate ship perhaps? It's a historical romance novel.

I apologize for not being able to provide any cover information or other details. I've never actually seen the book before but I was browsing goodreads a few weeks ago and that bit of information was gleaned from the summary. I thought I bookmarked the page but apparently not and it's been stuck on my mind since last night.

I came across this when I was searching yesterday but it's not the one. Thanks though! I'm definitely adding it to my to-read list. ^^

Another series I've been meaning to check out. Unfortunately, it's not what I'm looking for either. Thanks for your suggestion. :)

Dawn | 1 comments Daughter of FortuneDaughter of Fortune has a woman living as a man, no pirates but takes a ship to the American west/gold fields.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 74 comments Could it possibliy be Gentle Rogue (Mallory #3) by Johanna Lindsey?

Description:
Heartsick and desperate to return home to America, Georgina Anderson boards the Maiden Anne disguised as a cabin boy, never dreaming she′ll be forced into intimate servitude at the whim of the ship′s irrepressible captain, James Mallory.

The black sheep of a proud and tempestuous family, the handsome ex-pirate once swore no woman alive could entice him into matrimony. But on the high seas his resolve will be weakened by an unrestrained passion and by the high-spirited beauty whose love of freedom and adventure rivals his own.

Courtney | 80 comments Haha, I have no idea why I said An Offer From a Gentleman (Bridgertons, #3) by Julia Quinn because it has nothing to do with pirates! I mixed it up with Gentle Rogue (Malory Family, #3) by Johanna Lindsey , which was mentioned above.

There is a book called Jade by Sally Watson, which has the heroine involved with pirates. I think she may have disguised herself as a boy, and there was definitely another pirate, not the heroine, who was a woman passing as a male pirate.

Can I just say--this is such a common plot line, that its actually been parodied in other books--mysteries, Paranormal-mysteries, UF etc. Can you think of anything else to help us narrow down the options?

Sandra | 2 comments Sounds like The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle

It's a YA book, but it immediately came to mind.

THIS is the one! Thanks so much!

I remember now, I added #1 of the Mallory series to my to-read list when I saw that Gentle Rogue was the third in the series and I have a thing about reading a series in order even if they work as standalones.

I apologize for the lack of details, having only read the summary briefly the only details I could recall were the historical romance genre, disguise, a ship and the possible mention of pirates.

@others; Thanks for all the suggestions and help! It's always nice to discover new books. :)

I thought it might be a Lindsey--glad to hear I was right. The Mallorys are one of my favorite series. I hope you enjoy them, too!
