Wondering if anyone could recommend a good book that is gritty, epic, non clique,with magic as well
So far i have read the blade itself and game of thrones and have enjoyed both series

I have just finished a Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks and loved it. You'll get some gritty, lots of epic and magic, and even though the setup sounds a little cliched it doesn't go where you think it will- lots of surprises. I have reviewed all 3 books recently, you can check it out.

If you're willing to try Urban Fantasy, I highly recommend by Larry Correia.

If you're willing to try a female protagonist, look into by Ilona Andrews.

Try Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson.

Glad you liked Correia Laurel. He's written a few others since that one... All brain candy of course, but good.

I keep meaning to get to Magic Bites, maybe soon.

For something old, and maybe a little different, you might try A Storm Upon Ulster by Kenneth C. Flint.

I swallowed up the whole series in a few days! I haven't gotten around to Hard Magic yet, but I will!

I hope you enjoy Magic Bites - I read all five (plus a couple novellas) in I think under a week. So addicting!

I've had several people who liked the Seanan McGuire books, so I have the second one downloaded from the library in audio.

Steven Brust's Vlad Taltos series which starts with Jhereg is one of my favorites. While it concentrates on one main character through time, each book stands alone. The world building is unusual, and since Vlad starts as a midlevel crime lord (more or less) who freelances as an assassin, it does have very gritty overtones.

I also am a huge fan of the Kate Daniels series, which I would describe as action-urban fantasy more than paranormal (ie romance) urban fantasy.
