The release date I'm seeing for Republic of Thieves is September 3, 2013 :(

message 13: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Thayer changed it again?! Not good! Humph...

Felina Jennifer wrote: "May 10th- The Twelve by Justin Cronin (sequel to The Passage)"

I am also pretty excited about this one. I enjoyed The Passage.

message 15: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 298 comments They keep moving up the US publishing date for Orb, Sceptre, Throne even though I know it's available elsewhere. That makes me crazy!

message 16: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 298 comments the us site says May

message 17: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) | 1141 comments An interview with Lois McMaster Bujold announcing a tentative release date for her next book - November, 2012. Working title is Captain Vorpatril's Alliance and it features Ivan - something we've all been looking forward to, I think.

Laurel I am leaping off of the couch in joy!!!

Awesome news! Sounds like she definitely plans a departure from Miles as the focus.

Snail in Danger (Sid) Nicolaides (upsight) | 187 comments If you dig around you can find some audio recordings and transcriptions of her reading sample chapters at conventions. (I don't have the links to hand but I can try and find them later if no one else does.)

I knew about the tentative release date, but the thing that struck me from that interview were the comments about readers bitching about her doing things wrong. That surprised me. Not that people had had that reaction (tastes vary) but that she seemed so publicly cranky about it.

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 372 comments Jennifer wrote: "May 10th- The Twelve by Justin Cronin (sequel to The Passage)"

On the Amazon they have a different date, maybe the publisher changed the date. Now its stated to be published on August 28th.

I dunno, Ivan always seemed to me as a sidekick. He has always worked well with our favorite Vor but I really dont see a book.
Of course I am not a writer so what do I know

message 24: by Paul (new)

Paul Perry (pezski) | 228 comments The latest of Charles Stross' Laundry Cthuloid espionage books, The Apocalypse Codex, due out 3rd July.

message 25: by Kevin (last edited Jan 21, 2012 11:13AM) (new)

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 372 comments Also, I just found out another book in the Ender's Series is also coming out this year. It is Earth Unaware, which is about the first war againist the Buggers, coming out July 17th, 2012.

message 26: by Ken (new)

Ken (ogi8745) | 1466 comments I was pretty excited about the Bugger book, then I noticed its co written with Aaron Johnston. From the looks of it he is an artist or writer of comics or Graphic Novels.
I am not sure what to think now.
So is this a book written by the Johnston fellow riding on Cards coattails?

I think he is a screenwriter, so it might no be that good since the other book that they wrote together, Invasive Procedures did not do that well. I feel like it too much like a movie or too mainstream. It really felt more like a Michael Crichton novel than something Card would write.

message 28: by Ken (new)

Ken (ogi8745) | 1466 comments I noticed the last 3 Clancy books are co-written. Which usually indicates that Clancy is just lending his name.
I am thinking that maybe card is doing the same thing

Also, the last couple of "prequel" books I have read are not as good as expected

Yes, I agree with you on that. Everything he has written since Shadow of the Giant has been terrible because it has been more mainstream, which before I would have never though of him as been mainstream.

message 30: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Jan. 31st is the release date for Control Point (Shadow Ops, #1) by Myke Cole ? Looks like a promising debut.

Snail in Danger (Sid) Nicolaides (upsight) | 187 comments The Nightmare Garden is coming out on February 14 - I enjoyed the prequel, so I'm looking forward to reading this.

message 32: by Jasmine M (new)

Jasmine M | 19 comments May 1st The Killing Moon

I like Jemisin's books, though the last one The Kingdom of Godswas a bit of a disappointment for me, I'm still looking forward to reading her books

Yes! I concur. I am also very excited for The Wind Through the Keyhole.

To add:
Wide Open (Deborah Coates, March 13)
Hide Me Among the Graves: A Novel (Tim Powers, March 13) According to the author, this is related to/in the same alt-world as The Stress of Her Regard but is not really a sequel.
The Weird: A Compendium of Strange and Dark Stories (anth., Jeff & Ann VanderMeer, May 8)
The Islanders (Christopher Priest, June 1, US release. Orig. UK release 2011)
For Darkness Shows the Stars (Diana Peterfreund, June 12)
The Long Earth (June 9/12, a non-Discworld SF by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter)
vN (Madeline Ashby, July 31)
