LynnB I just got this one from a used book store. I'll start it as soon as I finish my current cozy.

LynnB I liked this cozy Christian-based mystery (non-believers may find it a bit preachy at times, though). It was a quick read. There were a few parts that seemed a bit simplistic, but this is the author's first in the series, so perhaps that will improve during the writing of future books about Ivy and the town of Winter Break. I'm willing to give book #2 a try. (I gave it 3 stars.)

Tasha I passed on this one because of it's religious base.

Lynn, the one turn off for me was that it was preachy. I'm also willing to give the second book a shot. I liked the setting, and I liked the characters.

Stephanie I didn't realize that this was a Christian-based cozy or I would have passed on it as a group selection. My apologies!

Michelle | 62 comments I just started this book. It's going to be my Nook treadmill read! I'm not really into Christian literature, but I love used bookstores so I'll keep going with it.

I thought the book was too preachy, and the characters a bit too good. The writing and the romance were simplistic, and yet, I didn't dislike the book. I did like the bookstore angle, especially with it's specialized niche dealing in rare and old books.

Ashley FL | 26 comments I just started this today and . . . I am not sure I am going to continue. I generally don't mind Christian fiction, but just last week I was reading a book that took a SHARP turn into preachy about 2/3 of the way through and I was really annoyed by that. It changed the tenor of the whole book.

So just a few pages in and I am worried this one will be too preachy for me in my current state of mind. I do love bookstore mysteries, though! So I am going to read something else and then maybe come back to it.

Michelle | 62 comments I am about 30% in. Its my treadmill book. I need to spend more time on the treadmill!! It hasn't been overly preachy so far. I hope that continues!

message 15: by Amy (new)

Amy I think I'm going to skip this one ... I have a low tolerance for the preachy stuff.

message 16: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 62 comments I just finished this book. So, I liked the story and the setting a lot. It got more and more preachy and that is not what I enjoy reading. In the end I gave it 3 stars and I will not be continuing with the series.

message 17: by Tara (new)

Tara I have a hard time with Christian Lit. so I skipped it too.
