Loved it! (:
#4: Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks 08.01.12, ****
185 pages.
Total pages 2012: 1,418
Okay, I know I really liked this one. It's late, I've got a cold, and I'm not going to say much but it was such a touching book, as soon as I finished I went straight up to my boyfriend and gave him such a big hug. I know I have someone special akin to the love in this book and it made me all cry-like, because the characters are all so strong and brave. But, I really liked it.
#5: The Darwin Awards Countdown to Extinction by Wendy Northcutt09.01.12 - 10.01.12, **
307 pages
Total pages 2012: 1,725
I hear the other books in this series are better than this one, so I'll have to give them a shot. This was a pretty entertaining read, there was just a few things that didn't sit too well with me: for one, the science interludes! As a complete science nerd I had no problem with them, but I just can't picture a lot of people caring to actually read them in between every chapter, there's probably almost as much content in them as the stupid stories we've come to read!
I also thought it a bit tasteless to refer to these award winners, dumb though they may be, as "frugal old farts" and saying "thanks for taking yourself out of the gene pool!" I mean, we can all come have a bit of a snigger at what obviously wasn't going through these people's heads, but that's taking it just a step too far in my opinion :/
#6: I, Robot by Isaac Asimov10.01.12 - 16.01.12, ****
249 pages
Total pages 2012: 1,974
Good good! I definitely should pick up some more Asimov-robot-related books this year (:
#7: World's Dumbest Crooks: And Other True Tales of Bloopers, Botches & Blunders by Allan Zullo17.01.12, ***
96 pages
Total pages 2012: 2,070
Funny, stupid stuff! Definitely had me laughing out loud at some bits!
#8: The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling17.01.12 - 18.01.12, ***
105 pages
Total pages 2012: 2,175
Nice little tales, the footnotes in the commentary annoyed me at times though. Dumbledore came off as really up himself always footnoting next to the words "intelligent" or "skilled" or whatever as "such as myself." The stories were nice, though, although very short.
#9: The Island of Dr. Moreau by H. G. Wells18-01-12, 31-01-12, ****
131 pages
Total pages 2012: 2,306
I really liked this, H. G. Wells is so good <3

Yet another great Wells read.
#11: A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin03.01.12 - 05.02.12, *****
803 pages
Total pages 2012: 3,251
Absolutely brilliant, I loved every second of it <3
#12: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen08.02.12 - 16.02.12, *****
320 pages
Total pages 2012: 3,571
Second reading, I think I enjoyed it even more this time!

367 pages
Total pages 2012: 3,938
Fantastic! 100% lived up to my expectations.
#14: Extreme Encounters: How It Feels to Be Drowned in Quicksand, Shredded by Piranhas, Swept Up in a Tornado, and Dozens of Other Unpleasant Experiences... by Greg Emmanuel17.02.12 - 21.02.12, **
176 pages
Total pages 2012: 4,114
Bit of a disappointment because it wasn't really what I thought it was gonna be, would have liked it a lot more if it had actual interviews with survivors/witnesses of these extreme encounters rather than just hypothetical situations.
#15: The Turn of the Screw by Henry James20.02.12 - 22.02.12, ****
142 pages
Total pages 2012: 4,256
Freaky as!

554 pages
Total pages 2012: 7,863
Still getting through them quite happily, despite George R. R. Martin being a heartless, heartless man who kills without mercy, haha.
#22: A Feast for Crows by George R. R. Martin31.03.12 - 06.04.12, *****
776 pages
Total pages 2012: 8,639

#23: A Dance With Dragons by George R. R. Martin07.04.12 - 23.04.12, *****
1,184 pages
Total pages 2012: 9,823
I loved it. I think it took me so long to read because I knew that once I'd finished I couldn't just pick up the next one, I had to wait... so I subconsciously dragged out the reading process a bit. That said, it was amazing. George R. R. Martin <3

Love this.
#26: The Return of the King by J. R. R. Tolkien12.05.12 - 24.05.12, *****

Love.
#27: The Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King25.05.12 - 29.05.12, ****
560 pages
Total pages 2012: 11,911
For some reason the name of the link comes up as The Shawshank Redemption although it is only one of the four stories in this compilation of novellas called Different Seasons.
The Shawshank Redemption was very good and I now want to see how the movie was handled.
Apt Pupil chilled me to my bone. Terrifyingly creepy characters.
The Body had a nice little exploration feel to it which I enjoyed.
The Breathing Method was downright creepy too. But good, indeed.
#28: Velocity by Dean Koontz28.05.12 - 01.06.12, ****

#39: 1984 by George OrwellJuly 2012, *****
326 pages
Total pages 2012: 15,771
Can't believe it took me until now to read this, it was great. Was really keen on seeing a play version put on in August but was too sick to go, a shame. Great book though.
#40: Tomorrow, When the War Began by John MarsdenAugust 2012, ****
286 pages
Total pages 2012: 16,057
Good again! Thrilling. I'm just gonna say all I want to say about the series here. Amazing! By the end I was just so tense wanting to know what happened. John Marsden has most certainly mastered the ability to make his readers care about his characters. And how they all have grown too. I really, really recommend this series.

278 pages

While not as thrilling as The Tomorrow Series, I still enjoyed it and have hopes for the rest of this trilogy.
