I loved it! The style, the characters, the facts and the details. All of them. It was a great story.
What made me pick up this book was the cover which is beautiful, the title "A Great and Terrible Beauty" I mean who wouldn't pick it up just because of the awesome title. And then the authors name, I love it, Libba Bray. But to me the book wasn't all that good.
i really really liked this book and i finished the second one too. however two of my best friends told me that the third one made them cry and i can't quite bring myself to pick it up and read it cuz i hate endings that are sad and leave me disapointed

I loved this book and was completely drawn in to the setting and characters. I read the entire trilogy, but wasn't crazy about the third book. It went on a bit too long and lost sight of what made the series interesting to start with.

before i had read it, my friend recommended it to me and i have to say that i thought it would be kinda boring but it is now on my favorites list! so if you are in a similar situation and you are wondering if you should read it, try it first, it might surprise you
About 3 years ago I read part way thorough the first one, but was creeped out so I stopped. I have just read it again recently, I like the main character, Gemma, but her friends are pretty cruel, which is a bit off putting. I like in the second book how you learn more about them and understand them a bit better so you could sympathize with them at least a little.

It is a bit of a haul, but worth the time reading it. :)
At first, I hated it, but then I loved it. And now I cannot get enough of it and have a re-read every once in a while. :D
I loved this book and this series! My only problem was the third book. I hated the ending. I thought it was almost as bad as the ending to Mockingjay.
I read the series a couple years ago and absolutely loved it...loved it enough to donate it to the library instead of selling it so that I can take it out and read it whenever I want...lol
i like libba bray's style a LOT and i definitely admire the authenticity of some aspects of her novel, but yeah the series has a stupid ending and it got to be way too much at the end.

I personally didn't like this book. I felt it was too hastily paced, confusing, and a poor attempt at writing in a historical context. I felt like Bray mis-grasped the realities of being a young 'lady' in a Victorian setting and wrote Gemma as an entirely modern character, with unsuitable opinions, expressions and mannerisms for her era. The occasional forced exclamation of 'poppycock!' is just not enough to be convincing. I felt as if many of the protagonists suffered from this as well.
That being said, I do have to give her credit for a good writing style and will definitely look into any non-historical fiction novels she has produced.
I loved it! I couldn't get enough of the characters, especially Kartik and Gemma<3, their relationship was adorable. It's true the ending of the last book was sad, but that doesn't mean it's a bad ending. Just be ready to cry....
Libba Bray is one of my favourite authors and I loved her Gemma Doyle trilogy. And the fact that Libba both made me cry and laugh when I read this books just says it all really. Though the ending on the trilogy was so sad.I also has a friend that wasn't a fan of the books, she didn't even finish the first book. But me on the other hand read it in two days.
My favorite series to date, i bought this book years ago and read it, loved it, continued the trilogy just this January and let me tell you... i cried, cried, and cried some more. Laughed, got frustrated, jealous, sad... all of the above. Wonderfully written.
I read the trilogy a few years ago & was pleasantly surprised. I liked it. I can't say it's on my list of favorites, but I enjoyed reading it.
I LOVED these books. 5 stars for all three. I really loved the setting, and the plot was original. Oh and i loved the characters too. Pretty much I loved everything about these books!

You'll love it.

I liked it, I don't normally read historical fiction, as I like to read a lot of world-building, but this had that in the realms and i thought it was really good
I actually loved the trilogy. It's normally not the type of book I would read, but once you get into it, especially starting the second book, it gets to where you don't want to put it down.
Loved the entire trilogy. Hated the fact Simon was only in one book. God he was hot. What a shame he didn't come back. What a shame they didn't have a little bit of love going on there to spice it up.
I didn't much like the book, but part of it may be that it was so highly recommended. I didn't particularly like the style or the characters, and the magic was too fuzzy. I did like the period detail, though, and the boarding house atmosphere was interesting.
I absolutely LOVE the trilogy. All the characters fascinated me and also the storyline was amazing!!
I didnt like it much, i found some of it confusing and i found it hard to keep reading because it felt like it dragged on a lot.
