i love them both :) and i don't really know why.. i don't like Bella though..and Harry, i like him but i think it's kinda annoying when he always is the hero even though a lot of people help him all the time, and when Harry "dies" in the end everybody freaks out.. but like i said i do love both these series :)
I totally agree with you. I don't like how 'needy' Bella is portrayed, no offence to anyone... and I don't really like how they reacted to Harry's death compared to how they reacted to the other people's deaths... Do you get what I mean?
yeah that is exactly what i mean! Bella can't do anything on her own and Harry is appearantly the most important person in the world xD I mean Ron lost his brother and then Harry dies and he gets crazy xD
Exactly, they make it seem as if Ron's brother dying isn't as important as his best friend dying. That's messed up. I mean, Ron's meant to have known his brother his whole life and he's only known Harry for 7 years... that's still a long time, but I think Ron should have reacted differently.
I LOVE TWILIGHT CAUSE I HAVEN'T EVEN READ THE HAPPY POTTER SERIES! I like all caps. It suits me very well :)
I'm planning on starting the Harry Potter series soon and I'm very excited! I've seen most of the movies but I actually forgot what its all about...

I'm with you CoCo. I have not been able to get into Twilight. I thought that I was the only one.Glad to have company!

Harry felt like a more realistic character. Edward is supposed to be perfect it every way: Intelligent, the perfect piano player, perfect good looks, and on and on.... However, Harry was a quick thinker and smart about some subjects, but he kinda sucked at potions, and Hermione out shone Harry. Although Harry did have a natural talent for Quidditch, he didn't always flaunt it, and sometimes he made mistakes. As far as looks go, well, Harry had glasses, had a scar on his forehead, and even though he wasn't described as ugly, he wasn't the most attractive character.
I don't know about comparing Bella with Bellatrix. Their names are similar, but their personalities and roles were way too different.
As far as the Volturi vs. Death Eaters, I'd say Death Eaters were definitely creepier. For one, they followed Voldemort.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
They also didn't back down from a fight the way the Volturi did. Bella put up a bubble and forced the Volturi to talk to the Cullens. It was an extremely anti-climatic scene. It was building up to it... and then Bella put up a bubble forcing the Volturi to talk. It was a little disappointing.
However, Voldemort and the Death Eaters didn't back down. Hogwarts tried to hold them off, but they kept forcing their way through.
But I guess in the end, it's a matter or opinion.

Harry Potter without a doubt. I wanted to like Twilight I really did but I just don't get it. I found it boring and ruined vampires. It just didn't work for me at all. Whereas Harry Potter I really didn't want to read and when I did I instantly fell in love. I've read all of Harry Potter books at least 3 times with the beginning ones read even more (I kept rereading as a new one came out)

Harry Potter was an epic story, it had everything I love in one story, bravery, sacrifice, strength, resilience, love, family and loyalty!Twilight is just about a girl who falls in love with a vampire and a werewolf who is in love with her BORING and predictable. But I am hopeless romantic so of course I still have a soft spot for Twilight, still read the books and watched all the movies! :-)

Just wondering how good is Harry potter? I mean I've read Twilight so I know that but... im kinda nervous about reading HP..
You should sooooooooo read Harry Potter. I mean, I may be kinda biased because I'm a crazy Harry Potter fan, but I'd advise you to read the book... or at least give the series a try...
I have enjoyed both series:Harry Potter is a family favorite, my kids and husband love it just as much as I do. My husband and I have read the whole series aloud to all of our kids and some books multiple times due to new babies. That being said, Sabrina don't give up on Harry because of the first few chapters of the first book...it takes a while for things to get moving.
As for Twilight, having read lots of Vampire books it was a nice change for Stephenie's vampires to be different. Themes tend to get stagnate because no one wants to take traditional characters and make them exciting. I understand why lots of people have problems with Bella and her neediness, but in a lot of ways she is the "stereotypical" teenage girl. Not that teenage girls are actually like her, but she is what is portrayed in the movies and on tv shows. Twilight was the first in the current trend of "Romeo and Juliet, Star-crossed Lovers" books. It's not a new concept, but it is being eaten up by the newer generation of readers.
Honestly, I think that each series has it's own merits and I don't really think one book is better than another. I think the hype about each series is really what draws people into loving or hating the series. If your reading a book because you have to or because your best friends says it's a must read, I find that I'm less likely to engage in the story than if I want to read it for my own pleasure.
I love Harry Potter.
I hate Twilight.
Harry Potter is about how important true friends are, how they can help and give their lives to save you. It's about learning how to pass through fears and pain and keep fighting for your dreams, for the loved ones, for everything you have. It's about how one pure soul, courage and braveness is able to save the world. Harry Potter is a classic for me. It changed my life, and made me realize a lot of things. It showed me how to fight, when I'm weak. How to forgive, when I'm mad. How to raise, when something is destroyed. How to love, when I wanted to hate, how to stand up, when I fall... And most important. How to fight, when I have lost.
Twilight is all about how important it is to have a boyfriend... That's all.

Your totally right, but I just haven't realized it yet since I haven't read Harry Potter yet. As soon as I do my choice will most probably change to Harry Potter :D
Neither. Um, Harry Potter was pretty good but it's just not what I could read/watch over and over again. Twilight, yeah, it was okay, but I didn't like some things that went on, and I found the characters weren't very developed and the whole story line was similar to a lot of books I read (Vampire Diaries being one of them). Being the best of the two, I'd have to say Harry Potter was better, but it still wasn't for me.
Hated Twilight!! Was badly written (i though anyway) and didn't have a good storyline.. even the characteres emotions were unrealistic - the whole love between bella and edward was unrealistic.Loved Harry Potter. Much more original than Twilight with a better though out plot and much better writing style (especially the last few books). Also liked the characters better.
That's my opinion anyway :)
I look at the 2 movies like popcorn. Twilight is like cinema-grade popcorn. You will buy it, still eat it and it gives you that just ok level of satisfaction. It's a meh feeling but you will go back for it.
Just like the writing - the storyline is quite good actually, else it wouldn't make such a good movie and create so many fanbases. But the quality of the writing is very....umm...well, nit so developed. I have seen students' work with more complex and engaging writing styles than Ms Meyer.
Harry Potter is like Garrett's popcorn. It's still popcorn and serves its purpose but it's gourmet! Waaaay up there when it comes to flavour. More expensive too. But not everyone would take the trouble to get it just for the movies.
And so i can say when it comes to HP, the writing is really good. It's no steinbeck or hemingway but definitely better than twilight. Storyline is very engaging and quite original. But it's not everyone cup of tea. A bit like an acquired taste. Like gourmet popcorn.
I know it's a year ago someone has written in here, but I have read both. And I will say I like Harry Potter much more. I liked Twilight some years ago (5 years), but after reading a lot of other books and growing I don’t really like it anymore. Harry Potter is much more exciting, and I just think Bella is a bit weird. She doesn’t even know Edward, when she fall in love and want to die just so they can be together...
In Harry Potter we meet a young boy, who thinks he is nobody and get friends (and enemies). In Harry Potter we also meet a lot of different interesting characters, and have a real fight for the good.
