Classics for Beginners discussion

A list of the classics I have read. Many were read back in the 70's or thereabouts. A few are more recent reads. May have read more that qualify but I can't remember them. When I discovered reading in 1970 I proceeded to check out a large portion of the school library.

Finished A Princess of Mars

Trying to get through A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court but may put it on the back burner for now.

Did you enjoy A Princess of Mars? I liked it despite it being dated and highly pulpy.

I did like it. I have plans to continue the series. There was a lot of action and the story kept moving and didn't drag. Yes, I certainly did like it.

I enjoyed those aspects also. I read it after seeing the film which I enjoyed as a whole production despite some parts that had me a little confused.

Looking forward to seeing John Carter. I noticed there was another movie made before that one, though, called A Princess of Mars. Is that the one you saw? Or John Carter?

John Carter, not the old films based on it. The new film was a great action film but the plot is quite different and yet still enjoyable.

I figured it would be. For one, they are not naked. lol. Plus the role of the women wasn't PC in the book.

Started Jane Eyre today.

Finished Jane Eyre.

Yes, I did. I didn't expect to since it is so well loved but I did. It wasn't a perfect 5 star though.

My goal is 12 classics this year. I've read 2 so far.

Finished 4 of my 12 classics for the year. Last one read was Anne of Green Gables. I am considering continuing the series.
