So far I have read 2 !!

I'm up to 7 by some miracle., helped by the facts that it is summer vacation time here plus some of those 7 books are quite short

Wow, I wish I could read that quickly! I should only read one book at a time but currently I have a true crime book, Until You Are Dead, the Stephen Trescott story, Damini Spanillie, a spoof of a detective book, a Nancy Drew and a Miss Pickeral!! LOL

I can't multi-read (or multi-task) :)

I'm with Connie - I have read 2 so far and yesterday started my 3rd.

I've read 5 so far, starting #6 tonight.

LOL I'm up to 4!! I try to read a fluff book in between the more serious books. Right now my light reading consits of Nancy Drew and Miss Pickerell. I read both as a kid but never got to finish either series, but now I have completed both and am determind to read them all!! I'm also read Janet Evanovich Two For the Dough, very light read and the General Hopsital's Daminan Spenilli's book which consits of just short stories. I think my next heavier reading book will either be a VC Andrews or one of my books on the mob!! LOL

I've read 7 books this year, and 10 volumes of manga. I'm on a roll.

So far, I have read and reviewed six books and fourteen picture books (I have also read a quite a number of books I have not reviewed as of yet, but I won't count these until I have actually written my reviews).

Officially, I've read 26 books (according to Goodreads), but one of those was a did not finish and another 4 were short-stories so in total, I've finished 21 books so far. Audiobooks have certainly helped my total since 10 of the 21 were in audio form.

Wow, how cool! I'll be happy to get my 20 books read for the year :) I have so many in my collection and my sister bought me a KOBO for Christmas and I already have 21 loaded on there I need to read!!

I'm aiming for 100 books this year which means I need to average about 8 books a month going forward.

You can make your "did not finish" shelf exclusive, so any books shelved there don't get added to your "read" shelf. I also have an exclusive shelf for books I mark as "not for me".

Sixteen books so far. Three on the go at the moment, two of which should be finished in a couple of days.

You're fast -- and you have a long commute. I'm working on 2 more right now.

Ooh, thanks! That's very handy. I like the idea of a "not for me" shelf as well.

It has saved me from adding a book to my tbr-shelf after i've decided I "probably" won't enjoy it, based on a review or conversation on the threads.

Luckily for me, my commute varies considerably in length from day to day depending on where I'm working. At its shortest it's about twenty minutes each way. At it's longest it's about an hour and a quarter each way. The commute partly accounts for the six audiobooks in this year's count. I wish I could read a regular book on the bus, but I would arrive at work most unwell if I tried. Not to mention what would happen if I tried to read a regular book while driving to work ....

I've found that I get nauseated if I try and read in a car or a bus. I can read fine in a train or airplane, but not a car/bus. I've discovered that I prefer listening to audiobooks or podcasts while commuting, although it can be difficult being on a bus with a lot of people talking.

That's exactly my situation, Tim. I used to listen to the radio in the car and on the bus, now it's audiobooks all the way. Love 'em!

I used to read out loud in the car, but my throat gets too dry. So, for long trips it's definitely audiobooks. I do read out of the newspaper at the start of a long trip.

I don't get car sick -- I can read just fine in the front or back seat. Maybe that's why I am always picked to navigate?

Navigation is fine with me since that's not continuous reading. I just can't read for extended periods.

We're certainly named appropriately if that's the case.

I added my "did-not-finish" shelf as an exclusive shelf and yet it's still counted amongst my read books. I think it's a Goodreads bug. I'm guessing since it was first shelved as read before the shelf became exclusive.

Hehe. Wouldn't you just want to kill your parents if they had done that to you! Having a twin would be okay, I guess, but rhyming names should be forbidden.

My sister's name is Tina, so that's pretty close.

As long as she's not your twin, it's okay. ;D

At one point we were going to call our second child Tim if he was a boy (which he was), but we changed our minds before the birth. Our third child is Tom, and I doubt we could have chosen that name had we gone with Tim for #2!

I've been mistakenly called Kim on many occasions. I assume it's that they just mishear my name, but it's happened too many times to count. I like Tim because it's not a common name. I haven't known that many Tims over the years. In high school I had a friend named Tim and we called each other Tim 1 (me) and Tim 2 (him).

I think Tim is a good name. It's not a rare name here, but nor is it all that common. I don't like my name very much, but at least it's better than Flame, which was the name my mother picked out for a potential future daughter when she was a teenager. She read it in a romance novel. Mum now says that she named me Kim after a little dog who lived up the street: a very cute little dog, she says.

Too funny! My Mother was going to call me Venus but my Dad stepped in and said NO. My oldest sister was named Deborah Selena Udora and then Athena Mary Elziabeth came along so Dad had said no more weird names LOL If I had been a boy I would have been Dallas James!

Gundula is not even that common a name in Germany, but the first time I met another Gundula was in Dundas a few years ago (she was taking the same art course I was, and we both had to laugh). I checked out the meaning of the name a few years ago, and supposedly it is considered a female form of Gunther and means something like warrior maiden (hmmmm).

My mother is a twin, and was spared the rhyming-name-syndrome by a mistake someone made on her birth certificate: they were supposed to be Jean and Celine, but somehow my mother's middle name became her first, and they emerged as Jean and Marie. She has always kind of regretted Celine; the name didn't stick on me, either, though she wanted it, because Dad didn't like it. Which makes it interesting to think what would have happened if Mom had been named Celine when she met Dad.

I was, maybe, depending on when you ask, named for a local oil delivery company. My mother saw the trucks and liked the spelling, she says. I hated it until I found one source that told me it's of Celtic derivation and means "battler" - somehow that made it better. It's better than "paving stone" or whatever it is someone told me a long time ago ...

I looked at your shelves and it seems to be okay now. Did you fix it, or did GR page cacheing catch up?

I've noticed that when I mark a book finished it doesn't show up until I click "view books"; somehow it needs that to update. Maybe this was something similar?

I'm kind of embarrassed to mention that I've read 30 books toward my goal of 160. I, of course, have no life, and that makes all the difference.

hahaha! There are worse things to be embarrassed by! (Like my low book count because I spend too much time talking about books, rather than reading them.)

Wow, Hedwig would have been even harder to pronounce than Gundula in a North American setting (although I think Jadwiga is a lovely name). And the French version of Hedwig is Edwige, I think.

I fixed it's shelf setting, but when I check "stats", it shows up on the list of books from 2012. It may because it's been rated, I don't know.

Well, you can always ask on the feedback group. I track my own books by shelf, too, like 2012-read, 2012-manga, for example. I don't count my manga volumes in my book count, due to their length. So, I don't know much about GR stats. Of course, now I'm curious..... :)

Yes, the accent would be on the first syllable.

Tim and Kim are pretty easy, too! I cheated and asked my husband how to pronounce Gundula. :)

Ha! Shelley, you crack me up. Believe it or not, people have been confused by my name. Sometimes they think it's my last name and not a proper given name.
