Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) You have a couple of options this month :)

February 2012: The Day the Music Died- Read a Juv Fic, MG or YA book...
-Where one of the characters is a musician OR
-Where music plays a key roll in the story OR
-That takes in the 1950s OR
-Was written in the 1950s.

Phew! This one should be a lot of fun!! Enjoy :)

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments SO GOOD!!!! If you like audiobooks I would suggest you listen to them. The narrator is amazing. You'll never meet another character like Jacky. :)

message 6: by Ann (new)

Ann | 88 comments Bud, Not Buddy - The man that Bud is searching for, convinced that he is Bud's father, is a musician. Bud learns to play the recorder, and the book ends with him enthusiastically trying out a saxophone. Lots of music!

LOVE Bud!!
Are you going to read Christopher's new book?

message 9: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) I'm currently reading Fire and I love how music plays a part in her story! Cannot wait to finish and it is just a reward that it works for this challenge.

It was very high on my TBR pile, but then I read the review on Fuse #8 -a blog that I find often dovetails with my own reaction to books - and she was less than enthusiastic about it. (Basically she said that she thought that Deza's voice was great, but if you look at the actions of the characters and what drives them forward, Deza is mostly passive, with her brother doing everything awesome, as if if Curtis was more interested in the brother but felt he should write a book with a girl character.) And that's put me off a bit. I'll read it eventually, definitely before the end of the award year, but it's no longer on my "as soon as it comes back in at the library" list.

Paul | 16 comments I love having an extra day in February. It gave me the chance to finish last-minute. That's my M.O. after all.

Five Flavors of Dumb by Antony John. The main character manages a fledgling high school rock band. She discovers the alternative rock scene and classic rock scenes of Seattle (Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Oasis, etc.)

A wonderful book written for teens but also for us 30-somethings to reminisce about.
