Lynxie So guys... What things do you love about your kindle? What things would you change?

I have an interesting thing that happens to my kindle when I highlight text and save it as a quote. The kindle seems to have a conniption and hangs for about 10mins, then just starts working again! Could be the 1500 book I have on it I suppose!

NayNay I have over 2000 books and my does the same, it is slow to turn pages, to open books, my freezes when I try to search within a book or for a book in my library. I think if you have a product that says it can hold up to 5000 books it should functions the same. I understand, like anyting else, over a period of time and use it well slow down, it well freeze from time to time, it well lose battery life. No different than a cell phone or laptop.

I have a Kindle but I only have around 100 books on it. Its pretty fast and its only frozen once.

If you don't like a book do you keep it or permanently delete it?

message 4: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie I agree naynay. Glad in a way it's not just mine though!

@katy- I remove from the device, leave it in my amazon account though.

I delete them, if I keep a book it is a book I loved and will re-read.

Heather Book Savvy Babe (booksavvybabe) | 14 comments just a note for those of you with 1000's of books on the kindle... you may want to consider storing them in the cloud. It will probably help your speed....

Anyhow, I love my kindle, I had a generation 2 for forever, and I just got a fire. I really like the fire, but I do wish that they would have a way to categorize the books....

Hi Heather, I have thought about that, I guess I just don't want to have to go through all the set up... maybe one day :P

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) I just recently got my kindle fire. Tsk tsk. Still kinda having issues with it. Not very user friendly if you ask me. You have to register it to amazon and all. I haven't even installed books yet. Hehehe. Anyhow, do you guys know where I could get mobi books. Used to read epubs so I dont know where to get mobi books.
Thanks. :D

Heather Book Savvy Babe (booksavvybabe) | 14 comments I convert my books to mobi format using calibre...it's worth looking into, it makes it easy to convert books and transfer them to the kindle

Heather Book Savvy Babe (booksavvybabe) | 14 comments oh yeah, mobi books are amazon/kindle format, you can also get them through smash words

Other than Amazon a lot of places offer mobi format. All Romance and fictionwise I know for sure. If you get a book in pdf format amazon will convert it. Just attach the book to an email, put CONVERT in subject line and send to your kindle email (ex.jane@kindle.com). You'll have to make sure your email address is added to your safe list on amazon.

I was told about calibre. Does it work for kindle fire too?

message 14: by Heather (new)

Heather Book Savvy Babe (booksavvybabe) | 14 comments yep, it works for the Fire too, I use it all the time to convert books. You can transfer books from calibre to kindle with a USB cord, or email. I use email because when you email personal docs, they are automatically added to the kindle/amazon cloud. That way, if the device dies or the books get deleted from the device, they are still saved on the cloud. It's quite handy really

My screen keeps freezing on my Kindle. Does this happen to anyone else's?

message 16: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie When does it happen for you? Mine does it sometimes when I am highlighting in books.

Pauline Ivashkov (polens29) | 7 comments I have Kindle keyboard. I really love it because now I can get books for free. HAHAHA but wondering if its really the real deal

message 19: by Davina (new)

Davina | 7 comments hi I absolutely love my kindle, think the best bit has got to be sampling a book before you buy it and there are quite a few free and cheep books, down side the covers as you don't see them every time you pick it up, I find it harder to remember what the story was about ;-) couldn't live with out it.
