I'm Georgina. I'm not a Goth but I have Gothic/Punk sensibilities. To confuse things further I dress like an alternative. I'm a recluse. I prefer talking to people online rather than off, probably because I can opt in and out of conversations easily. I hate rudeness and passive aggressive behaviour. Live and let live and long live difference.

I'm an artist and a writer. I live on a farm. I avoid cities. I have a thing for Nick Cave.

Hi there - I'm a historical crime novelist, living in a Victorian house in London. I write Gothic Victorian crime novels and love ghost stories.
Here's more on my website- it's got a gothic backdrop! I am a big fan of of the ORIGINAL Grey's Anatomy, and if you want to know where the head's from, its from The Hunterian Musuem in London and was first published in 1857.

D.E (Denise), that image on your web site is gorgeous. You certainly have done wonderful things with your life. And the village you live in! I have a thing for Shelley (Byron too) and Turner's work was exquisite.

Ha, ha! Thank you - its a great severed head, isn't it! And thanks for lovely comments on my web and for visiting it, too. Will keep you posted of anything I come across of a Gothic nature. My 13 year old went to see "The Woman in Black" at the w/e. Has anyone else seen the film?I LOVED the book and have read many times. He said they changed the ending. Boo hoo.

I'm not Gothic myself, but my daughter is and my favorite TV personality/character is Abby from NCIS... Does that count? If I had been born in the 80's instead of the (*&^$%^%%$'s, I would have been Gothic all the way. I do have one Gothic tattoo on my leg of the Grim Reaper, so I guess I might quality.
I was born and raised in Texas, love to travel, love to read, love to write and socialize on the web.
My favorite horror author is H.P. Lovecraft.

Hello all,

Well, I'm not a very Gothic person as you can probably tell by my picture. I am into Gothic images and stories however. I do like my dark fantasy. I also like music that could be called Gothic.

I am also a goodreads author. My first novel is Modern Disciples: Volume 1 It is a story about a cold war between ancient gods and Titans. Gods of all pantheons take the stage as their war rages on earth.

Hi Ian. You can take the Goth out of Gothic, but you can't take the Gothic out of Goth, if you know what I mean--In other words I think a lot of people with Gothic tastes wouldn't call themselves Goths. I'm not. I wear gumboots (live on a farm) and brightly-coloured, long dresses and skirts, that get snagged in the fences. But I definitely have Gothic tastes.

Thank you, Georgina.Glad you liked the sample from my book. "The Girl of Dracula" is not acctually a novel with vampires. It's a romantic suspense spiced up with some occult that involves Vlad the Impaler - the Romanian leader who inspired the creation of Dracula.Yes, I was born and raised in Romania. But after living for almost 20 years in America, I can tell that I'm more American at heart!

I've read a bit about Vlad the Impaler and I saw a great documentary on him several years ago. He was said to be a great leader. Obviously you have done lots of research. Were the staking claims true or were they fabricated in order to discredit him, propaganda style?

Rasputin was definitely treated in this way. It's amazing how many people think Rasputin was an 'evil' man, where in my mind he was a mystic, a healer, a drunk, and a womaniser. He also had a big mouth and a sizable ego, which was his undoing, as well as being born in a tumultuous time in Russian history.

Love to hear what you have made of Vlad.

I was born in England. My mother's German, my father English. We moved to Australia when I was four. I'm an Australian through and through, so I understand your reference to being American at heart. I worked hard to be Australian, I spurned my mother's packed lunches (Schinkenbrot and cheese) because I wanted vegemite like all the other kids.

Georgina, thank you so much for answering my post.The stories about Rasputin may not be true. At least some of them... This isn't the case with Vlad the Impaler. He ruled the Whallachian land by fear.And he was very cruel indeed - that is not fabrication! I did a lot of research before writing "The Girl of Dracula". The novel though is mainly a love story.
My husband and I would love to visit Australia some day... We visited London last year and we loved it.

That makes sense. That's a bit much smoke, stands to reason that it must have been a very large fire. I'm fascinated by it though (although I don't write about vampires nor intend to). If you want to post any good reference books, here's a new thread I just made:

Hi, my name is Jeff. Am I a Goth? Not in the real meaning of today's goths. I've a passion for gothic stories; the book of my life being Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus.
Was I a Punk? No, I was into Heavy Metal when in my teens. Yet, I had something for forlorn places and angst. I wasn't a geek, nor a nerd. I wasn't the popular, nor the wallpaper. But, I was different. I loved Shelley, Byron, Coleridge, and Poe. Disliked main trends always opting for the fringe.
Why? I don't know. Except ... there's something inside me, something different, and I don't like it. I imprisoned this Thought Form in the darkest cellar of my consciousness, but can't get rid of it. So, i use it: I write horror books.
Nonetheless, I don't consider myself an author; I'm just a 'Shamanic Storyteller', catching stories which really happened ... somewhere else, like a dreamcatcher captures dreams from the 'Other Side'.
I was invited to this group by one of the mods. I'm glad to here and hope to be helpful in a way or the other.

I do the goth/hippy/just plain dag thing around the farm. At school I was an all black, joy division t-shirt wearing, eagle feathers in hair, kind of girl. And I had the punk scowl.

Yep - at school I was in all black, trenchcoat (before it was cool!) and black hair with purple or red streaks... not make-up though! I just couldn't bring myself to mask my skin that much!!

I wore eyeliner, Egyptian style. Hee hee, probably not a good look in hindsight. :)

hehe - it's a bit scary when you look back on what you thought was an awesome look at school hey?! :P
