Out of My Mind has been one of my favs too. Of the novels anyway.Favorites in terms of picture books: Shark V Train and Little Brown Dog with a Pink Nose (or whatever that's called).
In the children's fiction I also really liked Palace Beautiful and The Strange Case of Origami yoda.As for Picture books I really liked Small brown dog with a wet pink nose although I wondered about parents not enjoying the fact that she tricked her parents. Spells is another fun read in the picture biik category.
I haven't read Out of My Mind (yet) but I really enjoyed both The Strange Case of Origami Yoda (which I read on the recommendation of my 12yo son) and Because of Mr. Terupt in the Children's Fiction category.I recently read - and adored - After Ever After in the Young Adult Fiction category, and I recommended it to my son, who liked it as well.
Origami Yoda is great boy book..I also liked "after ever after" the first one is good too. "Drums, girls and dangerous pie"
Here's a link to the list: http://clau.org/sites/default/files/B.... I bought Shark vs. Train for all my nephews for Christmas- it was a huge hit!

He was hesitant to read them - he most frequently reads fantasy - but he ended up liking them both.
The Beehive winners have been announced. "Shark vs. Train" won the picture book award. The best Children's Fiction book was "Out of My Mind" . "The dancing pancake" won the Poetry award and "The Candy Bomber was the non-fiction winner.
