Sue Merrell (suemerrell) | 3 comments Boy, Naomi, you ask tough questions. I suppose if you believe in God or Ultimate Good, that's how evil is destroyed. I think of it as darkness and light. Darkness is the absence of light. Evil is the absence of good. But it's not so black and white in the real world. People disagree about what is evil. A Jihadist might say the Capitalism or democracy is evil, while some Americans would say both are good. Most people agree Hitler and the Holocaust were ultimate evil, and yet there must have been some people at the time believed his actions to create a super race were desirable. My book, Great News Town, deals with a serial killer. Of course, he is evil by most people's definition. But there are some aspects of the character which elicit sympathy. He wants to please his mother and he plays with children. Can we ever wipe out all evil or all actions that will be perceived as evil by somebody? No, I don't think we can. Not in this world.
