Hi -

I tried to create a new edition and instead I created a new book.

Also will someone please enlighten me as to what I did wrong? (on the Editions page, I clicked add a new edition) Obviously something went astray since I came out with a completely new book.

You didn't do anything wrong. The add edition feature only fills in some of the fields, they still need to be manually combined.

the thing is, we don't choose which title will appear when searching. It is decided by number of ratings book has. Second title has 10 ratings while first has only 5. There is nothing you can do about it.

Hi, there, librarians. My historical mystery, Deal with the Devil, was originally published in two halves, so Deal with the Devil, part one came out, and then part two came out later as a separate book. But the publisher has now combined them into one edition, which will be the only version now sold. Should we delete part two and remove part one from that title's listing, or combine the two, or create a new, third entry? Here's the links:

This one. Since the separate parts were already published, we don't remove them from the database.

A 3rd entry should be added, the two other editions stay as they are.

Done! Only the ASIN wouldn't take, because the publisher uploaded the full-length book into the Amazon entry for part one, reusing the ASIN.

So the full length one is a Kindle edition? not an ebook,

best to add a note in the description that the ASIN xxxx was reused from the first edition otherwise a librarian may delete in error

It's both, sorry. A similar procedure was followed on B&N and will be on Smashwords, OverDrive, etc.

The Kindle and ebook should have separate editions, again with a note indicating the B&N 249xxxx id is shared. These editions can be combined

Combined 46. The edition that corresponds to that Open Library record already has a cover image. Why would you assume the other two editions have identical covers?

There's a different problem though: when I was adding the author in http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13... I put there Tolkien and the translator (Radosław Kot). But later, when I wanted to fix some minor thing I have noticed that it lists Tolkien twice (J.R.R. Tolkien alone; not J.R.R and Christopher in any case) and the translator has disappeared. I get an error when I try to remove the second author and the translator is not saved.
