I saw the movie and thought it was pretty good. I didn't know that it was a book though. I'll have to check it out.
I watched the movie also! It was awesome. My sister read the book and I think she said it was really good!
OMG soooo did not know that this was a book and I will definitely get! this is one of my favorite movies and I lov love love Will Smith!
I own the movie. My husband got it but I think it's awesome. I had no idea it was based on a book although I should have guessed considering that this is usually the case when I really like a movie. I'll have to check out the book!
FYI...the book was actually written in 1954. It is considered to be the influence for all post-apocalyptic zombie and vampire movies/books to date!
I read this book when I was a teenager, back in the seventies. I loved it. I'll bet many of you don't know that there are two other movies based on this book. The first starred Vincent Price and followed the original story pretty well. I highly recommend the Price film AFTER you read the book. The second film was The Omega Man, starring Charlton Heston. This film, like the Will Smith film, varied some from the original story.I suppose that dates me, doesn't it?
I only knew that because I had Googled it after I found out the book was written in 1954. I haven't heard of either of the other two movies, but I'll check into them :)
I got the book after seeing the movie, but I didn't find the book all that great. Its probably because I watched the movie first, and Will usually delivers. However, Richard Matheson's short fiction leaves something left to be desired. To be blunt, I didn't get the point of it. Not to discourage anyone from trying the book, by all means it wasn't bad, I just don't want anyone to feel a bit of a let down like I did.
I love the movie with Will Smith. I am so gonna have to find the book. I love reading books that have been turned into movies
Another thing... the Will Smith movie has an alternate ending. You have to get the blu-ray disc to see the ending not shown in theaters.
I read it sometime last month. I like both the novella and the movie but they're almost unrelated. I was glad I watched the movie first because I don't think I could have enjoyed it. It bothered me that they used the title, which completely lost the meaning from the book.
The movie was freaky! I covered my eyes most the movie and I just cried when the dog became a dog-zombie :( and then he killed the dog.:(

The doggie scenes really tugged at my heartstrings. I liked the film. I heard the book wasn't technically about "zombies" as we know them, but zombies with kind of "vampiric" side-effects. I will add it to my to-read pile.

I saw the movie a couple of years ago and loved it (LOVE Will Smith!), and I read the book this weekend, and was really good, too. However, I thought the book and the movie were so completely different!
