I'm looking forward to seeing your list! More for my tbr pile, I'm guessing....
Thanks guys! Finished my first one yesterday :D
4/5 stars. I rather liked this one. There was something almost magical about the abnormal things juxtaposed with the completely mundane things in this book that it was a rather delicious read. Near the end, it actually made me get up and cook my lunch for the next day! (I take lunch to work with me everyday) I read rather slowly, but was able to finish it in about 2-3 days.
I'll bump this one up on my list. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Everyone is reading The Book Thief. I wonder if I should find it?? I'm pretty sure I don't have it in my files for Kindle so it wouldn't count towards this, but, since everyone seems excited to read it, I think I may as well :D
Sherry, that's the way I feel too, since so many others are talking of reading it then what better way to read but in a big group read.
Just finished:
I had wanted to escape over the holidays with some "heart-warming" stories, so I got a short story holiday romance novel. It wasn't too bad. Romances really aren't my thing.
Sometimes they fit the bill for a quick, easy read.
Are you thinking a posting a list here, or just posting as you read? Do you write reviews for your books? I'd love to read your reviews, too.
Just kinda posting as I go. Adding Kindle books, I've got quite a few to chose from (kinda went wild with the downloading and all), so I'm not 100% sure what will be read and when. The most I do is like what was done for Lemon Cake - just a blurb about my feelings on it. Giving a summary kinda seems pointless to me, but perhaps I will attempt to write real reviews sometime! I used to do that for art books and comics.
Next up:
A graphic novel about a man who can come to understand the circumstances surrounding anything he eats. Anything.
After a run in with a serial killer, he is asked to join the FDA bring in criminals who trade in murder and chicken. His partner, Savoy, is intent on learning the truth - no matter what. But not everything is as it seems. Who can he trust? And what must he eat to uncover the truth?
Overall, I liked it! The art is good, and the story, while perhaps a bit for those with a low threshold for slightly...stomach upsetting things, is rather engaging. I will definitely try to get volume 2 if possible!
I probably won't add this one to my list! ;)
haha, I don't blame you! It could be a bit...strong sometimes, but I ate it over lunch and was fine (well, parts over lunch since I am a rather slow reader!)
Well, I was a lot younger, once, too! lol
Finished another one (#4)
3/5: A boy from the manga world gets transported to the comic world and falls in love.
It was pretty good, but the ending was kinda...eh...for me. I'd recommend it if you can get your hands on it.
Good work! Is this a graphic novel?
Yes, it's a graphic novel, and not manga. I didn't care for it all that much. I guess I am too much of a manga fan, and too little of a comic fan.
It was okay, but there was just something about it...the ending I think was the worst bit. But I don't think that I am enough of a romance-comic fan. Like Archie and whatnot. I'm not a fan at all.
I just thought the manga references were all cliched AND not all that funny. Same for the comix references. This was a good idea that failed, imo.
Any time.... Happy Easter, Sherry!
Got a few more read since last time I was here.
5/5: LOVED it! Great story and great art (although I must admit it took a while to get used to Quietly's style, I now am enamored with it)
5/5: Again, LOVED it! I want to read more!!
5/5: LOVED this one, too. I really want to read what happens next! Loki is definitely a mastermind, and Thor is in a tight spot because of it.
Up to 7...out of...12? I forget right now, but making my way through them! ...even if I am currently re-reading a good few books instead of reading new ones...ドンマイ as they say here :D
Oh, Sherry! It's one of the books I wish I could read for the first time again, I love it so. I've read it about 5 times.
Everyone keeps saying how they love it, so I am REALLY excited to finally get to it! It's been 3 days and I've already read half of it, so it's pretty obvious that I like it!! (I read really really slow, so it is an achievement for me!)
5/5
I had started to attempt to read this book at least 2 times. I am very glad that I finally did. The story of Scout and how she and Jem and Atticus and the town of Maycomb slowly change is rather interesting. Sometimes, the truth can only be seen from the point of view of a child.
I love both To Kill a Mockingbird and Jane Eyre, Sherry. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've read the latter book. In fact, it's the first "chapter" book I remember reading and I still have the copy I was given when I was about eight. Enjoy!
Oh, wow! I am really looking forward to it now :DI really wonder what has kept me from reading all these books that people really love??
Too many books and too little time. Well, that's my excuse, anyway. I keep finding books which I've never read and that other people know and love!
I'm glad you were able to get a copy of Jane Eyre, Sherry. Most of the classics are free online. I still have a manga volume I'd love to have from Japan, if you want to swap sometime.
If you like Jane Eyre, you have to try Wuthering Heights.

If you tell me the volume, then I will try to find it :) I have Thursday and Friday mostly free (and the weekend - this 10-day work week is almost over!!)Wuthering Heights is also on my list! Someone left me the book and I've been meaning to get to it!
Wuthering Heights is one that I love, and other people hate it. It's always fun to get into a discussion about it.
I'll send you a PM about the manga. Maybe I could send you that Thor comic you were looking for.

However, who knows how I'll feel once I finally get around to a re-read!
I've heard that about WH. Either you love it or hate it. I hope that I like it!Oh, I look forward to the PM :)
I hope you like it, too! I'm heading to bed.....
What's up with a 10-day work week? Didn't school just start in April? So, it can't be exams, can it?

Sport's Festival. Cheering is more tiring than I thought...especially when I am at a sport where I DO cheer instead of just watch the bags while the students cheer. It was fun, but I also enjoy not being at work XD

Jane Eyre, however, is the bees knees! Another of my all time favorites. I hope you enjoy it, and can live through the Gothic-ness of if.

Just like in manga? The teachers are supposed to be in the building, smoking, and discussing "grown-up" stuff, aren't they? ;)

haha! You should get overtime pay just for that.
hahaha, I TOTALLY agree! I don't do well making talk with ladies...especially those who keep touching me and making fun of my delight in vegetables.
I'm with Jeannette on Wuthering Heights, but we also agree on how dysfunctional the Cathy and Heathcliff. It's not a romance really but what not to do, or an anti-romance. Love the other two books as well. And you have to watch the Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch movie version of Mockinbird, a wonderful rendition of the novel. Harper Lee picked Peck to play her father, who Atticus was fashioned after, and was involved in the making of the movie.
