Does the book remind you of someone—a friend, family member, co-worker, boss—or something—an event, problem—in your own life?

Cindy (cindymac52) Denise belittled and smacked Charley around. I had a babysitter/Aunt who did this to me. My Mom's family hated my father and let their hate bleed onto me, because he wasn't there to hate. That saying "the sins of the fathers"...that is so true with me. And the funny thing is, I've never met my real father.

It's horrible when family members do this to children. No matter what their view of a parent may be, the child is inocent! They should never take out anger or hatred upon the child either physically or emotionally.

Oh Cindy that's terrible, I think that's one of the reasons the books touch us the way they do, we resonate on one or more levels and it reels us in. Cindy, in spite of all you endured, the person before us is all that is kind and just in the world. Love you, Cindy.

I don't think there's anything in the book that reminded me of my own life. Oh Cindy, I'm sorry you had to endure something like that! It's even weirder considering you never met him. Such an injustice, some adults just forget what being an adult means.

Cindy (cindymac52) Thanks guys...I think that's one of the reasons I get so grouchy when unfair happens to Charley. Fair is fair...the same rule should be enforced for every one. The same free pass offered to every one. Charley is an individual and should be loved for who she is, not penalized for what she is able to do. Oh don't get me going...LOL...I will stand up and grouch about unfair treatment, especially the underdog. If I witnessed what was done to me as a child, I would have called the police out so quick. I still bear the scars from family...gah!
