what time period does this take place in. cause at first I'm thinking modern times but then my mind changes latter in the book to like the 1900's

i think it's the modern day but very, very skewed! but then i think its actually set in a fantasy world anyway
I would go with 1800s, possibly very early 1900s. In the sequel (Perchance to Dream), Bertie rides on a train, so there is definitely steam power. However, no electricity. I'm with Becky in that, what with the magical aspects, this is very much a fantastical 1800s. But so much fun!
i dunno, wasn't she wearing jeans in the first one? also the stage manager has his walkie talkie thingy, plus the amazing hair dye
Ah, the jeans. Yes, that makes it harder to place. Amazing hair dye has been happening through the ages, interestingly enough, but could also be attributed to the theater being, well, The Theater. Of course they would have amazing hair dye. How could they not? Hmm...perhaps it's just a lovely mix of then and now and in-between, without really a point to put your finger down on.
