RandomAnthony | 14536 comments What fast food do you like? What fast food do you hate? Anything else about fast food?

I don't eat fast food much anymore. I still get those Burger King veggie burgers sometimes at work, but that's pretty much it. Oh, I love egg mcmuffins, too, but I just don't have much of a reason to go by McDonalds in the morning. I take the ham or whatever off, of course.

And I love Taco Bell, but I eat there rarely because of all the salt. I feel like I have to drink a gallon of water per burrito or I feel all gross. Too much effort.

I don't know if I've ever entered an Arby's, Long John Silver, etc. I don't mean to say I'm really healthy, but I'm a vegetarian, so I never had a reason to go into those places.

Oh, does Jimmy Johns count as fast food? I love Jimmy Johns.

And....you?

message 2: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments I'm an equal-opportunity fast food eater. The ones I visit the least often are Arby's and Hardee's and Burger King. Checkers french fries are the best.

I don't think we can count Jimmy John's, RA.... But I don't know, is Subway fast food? We have some Subways here where you can drive through and order.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I haven't met a fast food joint I didn't like yet. My faves are Arby's, Quisno's and Wendy's. I like Wendy's for their baked potato, chili and frosty.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Heh. That's right, you're a Jimmy John's person, Mindy...I'm still trying to repress the calorie information...

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 347 comments All this talk of Jimmy John's great veggie sandwich has me wanting to order one for lunch today. I always drive past it but figure that every places version of the veggie sub will be as dissatisfying as Subway's.

I like Taco Bell but only have it once every couple of months. A seven layer burrito with nacho cheese instead of their gross guacamole is delish.

Michelle (ingenting) I finally gave up Double-Decker tacos after I got sick from eating them, but I still love In-N-Out burger.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm a vegetarian, so the only fast food place I really frequent is Taco Bell. If you are what you eat, I'm part bean burrito with sour cream.

I don't like french fries, I hate ketchup, I can't stand the smell of most fast food places because they smell like cow.

message 8: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I'm trying not to eat a lot of fast food, but I love it. Jack in the Box tacos and curly fries are the world's best hangover food. I'm also a fan of the bean burrito with extra red sauce at Taco Bell. And I LOVE Chipotle. My friend recently tried to convince me that Chipotle was healthy, and then I showed him that the burrito he orders from them is 890 calories, 36g fat, 2345mg sodium (98% daily value!), and 76g carbs.

shellyindallas I can't believe how many of you weirdos love Taco Bell. That stuff tears me up. (You know what I'm saying?) I haven't had in probably 10 years.

message 10: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Ha...Culvers...you must be from the upper midwest, Rebecca....

message 11: by shellyindallas (last edited Dec 12, 2008 10:20AM) (new)

shellyindallas I don't think you want to have a stomach strong enough for that food. Hurry, all of you, run AWAY from the border!

Sarah- I love Chipotle, too. I can't believe how much fat is in a burrito! What if you get black beans? Or the bowl? Oh, fuck it. I don't care. I'll still eat there, and Jimmy John's. I'll just tell myself what I always tell myself: tomorrow is a new day.

message 12: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 347 comments Shelly, it definitely tears me up but I tend to think that's an acceptable punishment for eating swill like Taco Bell. It's garbage but it's delicious garbage.

message 13: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) In Wisconsin, everytime you order some kind of food they always ask, "You want cheese on that?"

message 14: by Kirk (new)

Kirk | 154 comments Before I decided I wanted to live past 50 I used to love White Castle.

message 15: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I've always been fond of breakfast at McDonalds.

message 16: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I don't know what Jimmy John's is.

Shelly, the burrito my friend orders with the aforementioned nutritional values consists of a tortilla, black beans, chicken, cheese, sour cream, fresh tomato salsa, green salsa, and lettuce.

The burrito I get contains black beans, rice, fajita veggies, cheese, sour cream, and fresh tomato salsa and it is only slightly healthier than my friend's.

Omitting the cheese and sour cream is a way to reduce calories and fat, but also a way to reduce flavor.

I think I've heard that the Chipolte tortilla alone has more calories than a BigMac. But I could be, and probably am, making that up.

As a rule I do not eat fast food unless I'm severely hung over. This is getting to be quite the rarity.

When given the opportunity I like the Taco Bell breakfast burrito that has nothing but tots and white gravy in it. I used to adore McDonalds breakfast for a hang over, but the last couple of eggMcmuffins I had were so horrendous they actually made my condition worse.

If on a road trip and no other possibilities exist I will enjoy an Arby's. I love fast food with horsey sauce.

And I'm like Shelly - I know how bad Chipolte is for me but if I'm in the mood, then there is no other way, it is what I'm having.

message 18: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments Logan, run to Jimmy John's and get that veggie sandwich! Subway's doesn't even compare.

Jimmy John's is a sandwich shop, Sarah. More "upscale" than Subway, I think, though I'm not really sure how sandwich shops would be ranked...

message 19: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) WELCOME TO JIMMY JOHN'S!!!

message 20: by Meen (last edited Dec 12, 2008 01:38PM) (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments Do they do that? My Jimmy John's here doesn't. The crew at Moe's does, though.

Oooh, there's another good one that's not really fast food, but not full-service either. I LOVE their tofu tacos!

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) The Chipotle tortilla has 290 calories and 9g fat. A Big Mac has 540 calories and 29g fat. So, while a Big Mac is a better choice than a full Chipotle burrito, it's not better than just the tortilla. Incidentally, the fat and calories at Chipotle don't go down all that much if you get a "burrito bowl."

Sally, that breakfast burrito sounds like one I used to get every week during my first year of college. It had eggs, hash browns (tots), cheese, and gravy. Yum! And that was also the skinniest time of my life. Weird.

Yes! So good, and so simple! I try and try to recreate it, but I've not come quite close. I think its called the Country Breakfast Burrito?

message 23: by Cyril (new)

Cyril I gave up fast food a couple of months ago for the most part. I eat a whopper on occasion, but that's it. I've lost about 20 lbs. and don't miss any of that junk.

message 24: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yes, Mindy, every Jimmy John's I've ever entered has their help yell that out to everyone who comes in the damn door.

message 25: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments I'm gonna write Jimmy (or John) about the Mobile franchise! I want my annoying greeting!

message 26: by Gåry! (new)

Gåry! (garyneill) Fat's good solid fuel along with the calories. I recommend burning it off.

message 27: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) With a blowtorch?

I'm glad you decided not to give up the ghost so soon!

message 29: by Kirk (new)

Kirk | 154 comments Thanks, Mmm-mmm. But it's not all that soon!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I love pizza, but other than that, I don't eat fast food. I'm with Sarah M., I don't like fast food french fries or ketchup out of those little packets. McDonald's ketchup tastes weird to me.

message 31: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell As far as I know, Jack in the Box is the only fast food place that serves breakfast all day. Plus there's one right near my office.

message 32: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sonic does too. But I know Sonic isn't everywhere.

message 33: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell There are no Sonics in San Diego County. The closest is Riverside County. (I looked it up.)

message 34: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments What-A-Burger does, too.

message 35: by Cyril (new)

Cyril If you ever get a McBurger again, try this: wipe off all the sauce and try tasting the meat alone - it tastes like cardboard.

message 36: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Or -- put all the sauces on a piece of cardboard and it tastes like a McBurger.

message 37: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sonic has the best onion rings on earth, imo.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Mmmm, I lurvvvve onion rings!

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
There really are What-a-Burgers? I thought that was just in Ramona Quimby Age 8

message 40: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Whataburger is a Texas thang.

message 41: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments No, Larry, you need to come to Butch Cassidy's Cafe in Mobile. THEY have the best onion rings on Earth! (Though they apparently got bumped as the Best Burger in Mobile...)

message 42: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) OK, Mindy I'll meet you there tomorrow for lunch. We'll test it out.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments What-a-Burger is based in Corpus Christi, Texas. But who cares? If you are in Texas, go to Taco Cabana, where there is really good, fast Mexican food with fresh tortillas.
I miss Taco Cabana!

message 44: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I agree on Taco Cabana. Good sheet, señor.

message 45: by Pamela(AllHoney) (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I met Mel Tillis at a What-A-Burger back in the early 80's. I think it was in Corpus Christi. :)

message 46: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Shut up. You did not.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Anything can happen when you're in Corpus Christi... That is one CRAZY town!

message 48: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) But M-M-M-Mel T-T-T-Tillis?

message 49: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments I always liked him when I was a girl. We watched "Hee Haw" every Sunday night!

message 50: by Pamela(AllHoney) (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Does anyone remember the What-A-Burger commercials that Mel Tillis was in?
