these are a young adult triology of books. what do you think of the books? do you recommend them? do you like them? do you hate them? are excited about the new film?

Chris (calmgrove) I got these discounted as a job lot last week (I suspect they were cheap because they weren't in a film tie-in uniform edition). Soon, maybe, I'll see what the fuss is all about!

Chris (calmgrove) The first film has had favourable reviews and comments from serious papers here in the UK: 4/5 stars in the Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/m...) though a little cooler in the Observer (http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/m...).
The first trailer seemed to suck all the life out of it though, so I'll wait till I (a) read the books and (b) see the whole film before I rush to judgement!

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I have all three Hunger Games books on my kindle, my daughter bought them for me (aka herself), but I have not yet got to read them. Not sure I can bring myself to read books where children are selected to die. "Taking one for the team" gone too far!

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I read Hunger Games last year and despite thinking it was ok at the time, I couldn't face the second book straight away. A year - ish later, i have made a start on the second book, Catching Fire. I'm only 4 chapters in, but it appears to be ok. Good but not great - so far anyway!
