Agreed! Have you seen the movie? I'm undecided if I want to, or if it'll just disappoint me.

Yes! I went at midnight. It is not disappointing. It is as good a movie adaptation as the Harry Potter movies. I will say there was only 1 or 2 things they left out that truly upset me (while of course there were others I noticed, but I understood why they were omitted). Suzanne Collins was part of the screenplay writing process and I really felt that the movie held up the dignity of the book.

Agreed! I was pissed by one difference. (view spoiler) Otherwise, I was impressed. I thought it was really well done!

Karis Jacobstein (yalitwit) | 419 comments I'm definitely going to re-read The Invention of Hugo Cabret. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I will re-read and then see it. Anyone seen it?

I have! It is a beautiful movie, as beautiful as the book. It is perfection.

message 11: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (micnandec) How about books with movies that are coming out later this year or the movies are in the process of filming? I'm specifically thinking of Ender's Game since it's the read of the month. :)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Beauty by Robin McKinley

This story has been made and remade a few times, but actually the book and the Disney movie are very similar.

Was the book good? I've been hesitant.

Erika (readingbutterfly) I read Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. I did not like this book. It was depressing and I kept seeing Kristen Stewart the whole time.

I'm sorry- I've never seen the movie and I don't plan on it since I think it is a powerful book that stands on its own. It isn't a cheery book in the least, but I think it is such an important book.

message 28: by Paul (new)

Paul | 16 comments Ahhh! It's been a productive month for me.

I read The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis and Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie.

Both classics; both surprisingly fun reads.

I'm leaning towards no as the task calls for a book that has been made into a movie, this appears to be a book based off the movie. It also appears to be info that could be found in the actual Hunger Games books.
