Hello everyone. My name is Tracy and I am new to the group. I have a kobo that I bought about a year ago when our local boarders book store was going out of business, but I really haven't used it much. I can't really figure it out, any suggestions. It is the kobo with the square pad on it. Thanks

Not quite sure what you mean when you say you can't figure it out. Have you followed the quick guide, because that's all I read, I didn't bother reading the instructions that came loaded on the Kobo.
Hi Tracy. There really isn't anything to figure out. Take it out of the box, charge the battery, turn it on, wait for the updates, and a way you go. If you don't have wifi, you will need to connect the Kobo to your computer and get the updates and book downloads that way.
It's a very easy gadget to use.
I found watching videos on you tube helpful

I'm new to this group. I have the Kobo Vox and I've had it since it first came out which I guess is aboutnine months ago..maybe eight. I just started to use it to read books on Overdrive because I live in Canada and Overdrive doesn't work with the Kindle here. I like it for Overdrive but I find the actual Kobo to be somewhat frustrating because you can't lock the screen into portrait mode and I have no idea why anyone would want to read a book in landscape mode. I wrote to Kobo and they said this is the way it is.
I've just finished reading
by Joshua Ferris and I thought it was alright.
Hello everyone, I am a reader and a writer. I have 2 pre-teen/young-teen eBooks available for the Kobo reader through www.smashwords.com.Zoey Zimmerman and the Zombie Pigeon
The Tombstone Stranger
I hope you will check out my website and read an excerpt at www.TheZombiePigeon.com.
Happy reading,

Alan, yes can ... while you have a book open on Kobo, tap the icon between the home and back. This takes you into settings. Tap fonts (this will open a sidebar on the right side of your kobo) Tap the first icon (looks like a book) This opens a box for reading selections. The second option is your page orientation, set it to the orientation you prefer. Automatic (will flip when you turn the device) Portrait or Landscape. Then tap done.
To turn off this setting, tap the x at the bottom right hand corner of the grey sidebar

Hi Shawna, great to meet you, however I did try to download an ebook for my Kobo from the Trindiebooks, site but got an error message that it was not possible. Is there a way to do that?
Try again. I've never heard of anyone having trouble. There was a free eBook yesterday and one today. For the next few weeks I have free eBooks going up so lots to try. Let me know if it still gives you trouble.
Thanks Shawna for the info, I did manage to download and have actually already read My Mad Hatter.. FABULOUS book! Could not put it down.. I look forward to reading others of like quality. thanks for the link!

Hi Marielle
Welcome always nice to see another Kobo reader :) I have made myself a a Kobo bookshelf, if you click on the book you want to read, there is a green box beside it "Want to Read" with diagrams of books beside this.....click on the book diagram a drop down box will show, click on "add Shelf" then type in the box what you want to name it e.g Kobo Glo.
Hope this is what you wanted, good luck will keep checking back. :)
Hi MellyLike you l Love my Kobo and also have the loooooong to read list.....thinking lm near the end of my kobo library of space too lol.
G'Day All, I'm new to Kobo as I recently bought a Kobo Glo, I must say I am enjoying being able to carry around all those books in one tiny contraption! Always looking for great free Kobo reads, or anything new and interesting to try.
Best Wishes from Australia!!
Hello Everyone, I just got a Kobo for my birthday, and I am very excited to expand the number of books available to me by reaching out into the digital world! I am wondering does anyone here use OverDrive Media/ Adobe Digital editions with their Kobo? It is what my library uses to lend digital books, but I am having problems with the licensing...

Hello,
Do you already have an ADE account? If so, have you authorized your Kobo with this account?
But I know nothing of Overdrive.
By the way, which Kobo do you have?
Good luck!
I have a Glo. I didn't have an ADE account, but had signed up for one. I authorized my computer and the book showed that it was authorized for my account. My Kobo was authorized for my account....but when I transferred the book to my Kobo, it said I didn't have the correct license. I tried about 6 times (deleting and re-downloading the book) and the same thing happened.I just tried it again this morning (3 days later), and suddenly it worked. I am a bit worried because I don't know why the problem occurred and why it went away, but I am keeping my fingers crossed this won't be a lingering problem.
Thanks for your help!
Generally, if your computer is authorised with Adobe Digital Reader (you sign up with an email and create your own password), and you download the Overdrive library book (and it opens in Adobe Reader), then you can use Adobe Reader to transfer the book to your Kobo.Alternately, you can read your Kobo books on an Android tablet -- like the Google Nexus 7 (under $250) -- using Kobo's Android app. There is an Overdrive app available (both free) so one device gives you easy wifi access to your Kobo library and your Public library.
If anyone is in the market for a new reader, or you are thinking of updating from the Kobo Wifi or Kobo Touch, both the Glo and Aura are "backlit" for a more enjoyable experience. The Aura, especially, which is slightly larger, has the best screen resolution of any reader on the market. Text at smaller sizes is crisp and legibly. It's a real pleasure to use this device.
