The 'Buddy Reads' folder is now the 'Series Reads - Discussion' folder. All the books we were discussing were part of a series, hence the reason I changed it.

Thank you to Mia for suggesting we have somewhere to discuss movies and T.V. programmes, especially NZ ones. I have just set up a new folder called 'Not Just Books - Other Media'.
Check it out if this interests you!
The first question has been released for our First Birthday Competition. Go to Competitions > Questions for more details.
The May/June Group Read nominations also opened today. Have your say on the Young Adult and Around the World book choices.
I've just organised the books in our group bookshelf according to...a) the challenge they were read for
b) whether they were written by a New Zealander
c) whether they were written by a group member
I hope this is helpful.
Please check your inbox for a Newsletter from me.Also,
* Q3 will be visible for two more days
* May/June nominations close tomorrow
Happy days!
Angie wrote: "Please check your inbox for a Newsletter from me...Angie, I just wanted to say what a great job you're doing here! I don't know how you find the time, but thanks for promoting NZ Authors.
I'm a 'sleeping member' but appreciate all that you do.
Thanks, Anna. I thoroughly enjoy it, and am becoming more and more passionate about getting our NZ authors out there, particularly in NZ of all places!
The polls close in three or so days. Don't miss out! Only ten people have voted and we have over 160 members.
Question 5 has just been released. What do you think of our new masthead?
Any guesses as to where I took this photo?
Cool pic! I think the colours work really well with the group picture (icon? Avatar???) too.I'm going to guess Cromwell, even tho it's years since I've been there, so I really have no idea!
The colours suggest the South Island in Autumn. I love it. But I've seen landscapes very similar here in the Waikato also in autumn
I took the photo this time last year while cycling a small part of the Central Otago Rail Trail near Hyde. I couldn't work out how to make the photo smaller. This is only part of the photo. It has the Taieri River in it too. Gorgeous.

Angie, if ever you need any photo-processing done for the kiwi GR, just email the pic to me and I am pretty accustomed to photoshop. I'm happy to help. I also have a lot of photos that might be useful. If you want to see my photography and image processing, check out the web site I built for the Pirongia Tourism Assocation. It's here:

And you can find all my contact details including email address here on my own website:

Thanks Tui. I will most certainly take you up on that offer. I seem to be having a few internet issues at home at the moment. Hence the reason why I have yet to add the winners from the latest polls to the up-coming group reads shelf. Will try at school tomorrow.
You are doing a fantastic job. We all appreciate it. It's so good to have a kiwi GR corner. It never works on Amazon as the thread just gets buried so quickly if not constantly used. I know - I tried to start one up there. But here on GR, we know we can come here any time and find the kiwi corner and make contact with other kiwi readers and writers.

I'm still having no luck loading the up-coming books to our group bookshelf. However, the May/June group reads are...
Young Adult: The Outsiders
Around the World: Nowhere Girl &/or The Oracle of Stamboul
A huge thank you to Darkpool who managed to work out what the issue was with loading the up-coming reads, and for loading them.I just love the covers of our Around the World books.
We obviously had a tie between the two, so read the one that appeals to you the most, or read them both!
Better late than never... Question 6 has just been released. Remember to email me your answers to all six questions within the next week or so.
First Birthday CompetitionPlease have your answers to me by the end of the day - 7 May.
Thank you to those of you who have already done this. I hope you enjoyed the competition.
CONGRATULATIONS to Sweetp-1 and Jo Danilo. You guys are the winners of the Book Loving Kiwis First Birthday Competition. I will be in touch before the end of the week regarding your prizes. Well done!!
Oh YAY! Oops in my excitement it posted twice lol. Thanks for running the competition Angie :) It was fun and I have added some new books to my to-read list!

Woohoo!! I love winning stuff ;) Thanks Angie!
The poll for the NZ June/July group read will be closing in the next couple of days. If you haven't voted yet, there is still time... just!
Angie, my prizes arrived yesterday - thank you very much! A lovely surprise on a day when both me and my daughter were sick. The lollies cheered us up nicely and I have already read one of the books lol. THANKS again :)
OMG!! I just put a request in for dinner at Rose's at the Auckland library - looks like they have loads of copies... which is just as well, cos I'm #92 on the list!!
Hello wonderful members!I am going to be abandoning you all for two and a half week as of Tuesday 26 June. My husband and I are off to the UK on holiday. Goodbye winter, hello summer (fingers crossed).
I have opened the Aug/Sept NZ group read nominations earlier than usual due to this. I'll make the poll once I am back.
While I am gone, enjoy your reading and interactions within the group.
There shouldn't be any problems. Darkpool, I'm leaving you in charge!!
Yikes!!! Don't worry, if anyone is naughty I'll write their name on the board ;-)And yep, I hope the UK summer finally puts in an appearance. Have a great time, Angie!
Have just realised that I haven't set up the new poll yet. I'll blame it on the jet lag. Will try and sort it tomorrow.
