Um haven't read it yet, I don't think. Maybe I have though (I'm not good with titles) what was it about?
It's the mystery with Mary (who becomes Watson's fiancee) and the anonymous treasures she keeps receiving. Does that ring a bell? It's novel #2 in the series :)
Oooooo yeah!!!!! I liked that one! (of course it ends with Watson being engaged which I always thought was sweet so how could I not like it).
I forgot EVERYTHING that happens in this book except Watson marries Mary Morstan
Haha I remember the part about her grabbing his hand when they were in that house. It was cute. Other than that and them getting married, I don't remember much else. Maybe it's time for a re read?
I don't think I liked that one as much.
In the 2nd novel "Sign of Four" I think Conan Doyle was more brave in depicting Sherlock, I mean, as a cocaine (and sometimes morphine) addict. So I love how Sherlock's personality is clearer in the second book. However, story-wise, I still like Study in Scarlet better.
I haven't finished Sign of Four yet :(

Saw this topic and just will add that IMHO, The Sign of Four is the best of the Holmes novels. The Hound of the Baskervilles is the most famous, and I think The Valley of Fear doesn't get it's due, but in all other three novels, the structure of the work has Holmes absent for large chunks of the book. SIGN is the only one that keeps him in the picture throughout the story.

Have to say I preferred it to "Study in Scarlet" as there was more of Holmes & Watson. Also, a lot of the clues were presented to the reader (in "Scarlet" Holmes kept a lot to himself - but here Watson was able to see what Holmes' perceives, so we were as well). And I like being offered the opportunity to figure it out myself - even though I might not always :P And Holmes was so entertaining in this one.
What did everyone else think? (If there's anyone out there... )
