Melanie (melanienmo) I'm Melanie. I love American History and this group is such a creative idea that I just had to join. :) I RP from my iPod touch because I don't have access to a computer, so if there are spelling and/or weird words in my posts, that would be the lovely AutoCorrect feature. :)

Oddity (falinfreakster) Hello! I'm OZ ((Oddity Zerrissen)). I have the same problem as Miss Melanie.

Oddity (falinfreakster) Welcome! I'm Oddity, but you can call me Oz. Whichever you prefer.

Kathy Otten | 3 comments Hi, I'm Kathy. I just joined your group because I'm a huge fan of westerns, books and movies. I also write historical western romance.

Clark Hays | 7 comments Hello all. Clark here. I grew up on a ranch in Montana reading Zane Grey and Louis L'Amour. That progressed to Cormac McCarthy and others. Excited to see westerns picking up steam again. I wonder if it's because of the weird west/steampunk infusion of energy? Anyway, look forward to talking to you all and learning more.

message 11: by Oddity (new)

Oddity (falinfreakster) Yay! This group is a little (well, very) inactive, so now it's your job, along with Kendra and I, to start it back up again!

Gringo1980 | 1 comments Hello everyone, I'm Matt. I read Lonesome Dove not too long ago (my first western), have just finished Dead Man's Walk, and am currently halfway through Comanche moon. I love these books and joined to get more recommendations for when I finally finish McMurty's series.

Barbara Neville (barbaraneville) | 4 comments Howdy, I'm Barb. I love, live, cowboy, and ranch in the west.
I have read tons of Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey, Larry McMurtry, Dick Francis (The Brit eastern), and many more. I also write, so will shamelessly promote my western 'On the Rocks' by Barbara Neville. It is listed here on Goodreads and I do have an author page, It has cowboys, Injins, horses, gunfights and lots of laugh. Maybe some romance too. Hope you will at least red the first 3 chapters free on Amazon. My latest westerns, Longmire. About to read the new McMurtry. Head 'em up!

Kaj Samuelsson | 8 comments Dear Barb,
I will definitely check your book on Amazon, and maybe I'll buy it after. Can you also add what Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey, Larry McMurtry, Dick Francis you have read on your list of read books. Fun to see how you rated them.
Kaj

Barbara Neville (barbaraneville) | 4 comments I read Zane grey as a kid and Louis long long ago. SOme of the Sacketts were excellent, but don't remember which. I just read 10 lb. Penalty by Dick francis 5 star. Also like his and his son Felix collaborations and now of course Felix is writing alone. But 5 star stuff. Another I rally like is Anne HIllerman continuing her dad's series. I really liked Spider Woman'S something. My book is on Kindle Countdown Deals on Amazon today and tomorrow for 99 cents (the ebook)then it foes up progressively every 32 hours until next Monday when it returns to $5.99. I mail out signed copies of the paperback for $20 including postage, Amazon is cheaper, just not signed. Thanks!

Lou Bradshaw (oldeyes) | 3 comments Hi, all, I don't know if I'm allowed to join this group because I'm a Western writer. My reason for joining is to get closer to Western readers. I want to know what you want in a book.
I live in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, USA. I too love a good Louis L'Amour or Zame Gray. I often tell folks that L'Amour taught me to read. I have 5 books on Kindle, but will not list them unless it's permitted.

Hi Lou, I don't know either, but there is a group called "Western Authors & Readers" there it is definitely allowed.
Much Love

Lou Bradshaw (oldeyes) | 3 comments Thanks, Kaj, I'll check with them, that may be a better fit, but I would still like to monitor this site and maybe even answer a question or two about the process.
Thanks again,
Lou
