Hello, I'm Georgia and after reading 'the hunger games' i realized i actually really like dystopian books, i do have to admit i LOVE paranormal books as well but i do have a sneaky affair with dystopian books every so often. The next dystopian book i plan to read is 'wither' in the chemical garden series by Lauren DeStefano.
Hi I'm Maggie and I'm 14. I love YA books (especially dystopia) and I created this group because I was a member of another group, similar to this one, which had barely any activity due to the absence of the only moderator. My favourite dystopian books/series are:
The Hunger Games
Divergent
Gone
Shatter me
Uglies
The Hunger Games
Divergent
Gone
Shatter me
Uglies

I quite love paranormal books too but I've gone off them since reading the Hunger Games and Divergent. I especially loved Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.

Yeah i just finished 'mokingjay' but 'the calling' somes out tomorrow in the UK and i really liked the first book in that series by Kelley Armstrong series so i think i will probably get that first and read that. Yeah i've heard of that'Divergent' book and i wasn't sure on whether or not to read it...
I really did not like 'Shiver' at all i dont know whether it's because i was also reading the Need series by Carrie Jones but i just did not get into the story, i did read the rest of the series but i could not get into it...
Hi I'm Sidney and I love all types of books. I would list some but there would be a lot, so just visit my profile.
@Georgia I've never read any books by Kelley Armstrong but I've heard of her. By the way if you're not sure if you'll like Divergent then read the first 100 pages online free to decide. The link is at the bottom of the comment. If there're any YA dystopian books you want to read next month could you vote on the May group reads poll. You can add another book if you like, they were just the first ones that came to my head.

Ha ha, that's what happened to me - I read the first 100 pages and got really upset and annoyed when I realised I would have to wait to read the rest.

I'm Andrea and I live in Missouri (USA). My home is my work, and I'm working on two novels (not related to each other). My favorite book right now is Wither by Lauren DeStefano. I've read it countless times, and it's always my go-to when I hit a lull in my reading. The Hunger Games is, so far, my favorite dystopian series. I also like paranormal romance and some sci-fi...so long as it's more fi than sci ;) I like stories that are rooted in Greek Mythology. Dystopian is my favorite genre though.
hey, uhh, I'm Erica and live in the US. My favorite young adult dystopias?
-Divergent
-The Hunger Games (not the whole series)
-Shatter Me
-Awaken

Hello, I am Mike, and as did Georgia, I read the Hunger Games (actually currently reading the second one: Catching Fire), and so far they have really grabbed my attention more so than most books do. So I figured that I might like the genre.

Hey Shweta and Charlotte, I hope you both enjoy this group. If you haven't already you should both read Divergent. It's my second favourite YA Dystopian series behind The Hunger Games, which you should read as soon as possible Shweta, you won't be disappointed. I will suggest not reading them unless you have the next ones at the ready though, otherwise you will hate having to wait to read the next in the series.
Welcome to all of our new members! This is so exciting! There are sooo many great dystopian books out there, and some of my faves have already been mentioned. Check out my dystopian shelf for some more great ideas. If you'd like to participate in this month's group read, I would recommend reading Divergent first, as our current group read is its sequel: Insurgent.
Hi, I'm Cathy. I have a YA review blog, a writing how-to blog, and I love my Kindle. I could never pick a favorite dystopia, but I'm obsessed with Divergent. I've just started Insurgent and I'm so excited to read. Excited to discuss it with all of you!
Welcome Cathy!!! I'll be sure to check out your YA blog soon, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts on Insurgent! :)
Hello! My name's Anitta. I'm 16. I'm from the USA. I really love dystopian books as well as romance. So, of course, my favorite books are the dystopian's that have romance in them! ;)Some of my favorite series are:
Ugly's
Matched
Delirium
The Hunger Games (Even though I'm only on the second book lol)
& The City of Ember series
And Series that are not dystopian but still some of my favorites:
The Wolves of Mercy Falls
The Lorien Legacies
& Percy Jackson and The Olympians
Welcome Anitta! I love seeing people list their favorites. I always see something I haven't read yet! I'll check some of those out :) Since you like Percy Jackson, have you read Riordan's other series the Kane Chronicles, or the Heroes of Olympus??
I haven't read those yet. I've been meaning to read the Hero's of Olympus but I haven't gotten around to it. To many good books keep getting in my way! :)
haha! I know what you mean...the most recent in the Kane Chronicles just came out and I don't have time to read it yet! Cuh-rayzee :)

I live in the southern USA. And I have One Direction Infection. ;D
The Water ThiefHey! My name is Nick. I have a book I'd like to have considered for your "Group Reads". It's a dystopia set in a world where governments have collapsed and everything is corporate and privatized. There are reviews and sample pages on Amazon.com, but I'd love to find a mod who'd let me send them a paperback version (or they can get it on smashwords-coupon code LF68W).
If there's anything else I can tell you to help, please let me know! I'll include the back Blurb:
“There is no difference between the saint who gives food to starving children and the worker who operates the gas chamber that kills them, except that one is making money and the other is losing it.” -Linus Cabal
CHARLES THATCHER is a private citizen, which is to say that he’s the private property of the Ackerman Brothers Securities Corporation. He’s got problems: the cost of air is going up, his wife wants to sell herself to another corporation, and his colleagues are always trying to get him tossed into the lye vats.
But when he discovers a woman stealing rainwater, he sees his chance to move up in the world, maybe even become an executive. He reports her, painting a picture, not just of a thief, but of a seditionist and revolutionary, someone who believes in that long-dead institution called “government.”
Then she suddenly vanishes. Racked with guilt, he begins trying to track her down. What he finds is a nightmare far worse than he’d imagined—that his report may have been right.
Now engaged with a small rebel group, Charles learns about life outside his corporation. But in a world where everything is for sale and lies are more profitable than the truth, he begins to wonder if even these revolutionaries have something to hide.

Thank you for sharing! We're primarily interested in Young Adult Dystopia, but I'll give your book a try and see if it might fit our group. Message me and I'll get some info to you!
Hi, I hope I'm not too old to join your group! (I'm 36)I have joined a few groups on goodreads but am really keen to join a group that reads and discusses books.
I mean I enjoy general chat too but I really love to talk about books with people.
I like all YA, but am really getting into dystopia, have recently read uglies and gone. I also loved The Knife of Never Letting Go but I don't know if this counts as dystopia?
Hi Alsjem, welcome to the group. There's no such thing as too old to join, it's just about what kind of books you've enjoyed! I think The Knife of Never Letting Go counts as dystopia but I haven't read it so I can't be sure :)
If you haven't already, please vote on the poll for July's group read.

Hi Alsjem!I'm closer to your age (32)! But like Lilac said, it's not about age, it's about sharing a love of books in this genre :D Welcome to the group!!
Thank-you for being so welcoming! Have voted on the poll for July but found it hard to pick one! will be happy whatever the outcome!
Hi Sarita! Welcome to the group!! If you haven't already, vote on the poll concerning July's group read!
Hi! I'm Meagan and am likely the oldest member of the group at this point (39). But I LOVE dystopian novels. I didn't vote in the poll because I've already read Wither (didn't love) and Under the Never Sky (LOVED!).I'm excited that Uglies was chosen, since I haven't read it yet. I'd also like to read Starters because I'm intrigued by the premise (and have already read the first few pages). Thanks for letting us "oldies" join the group! Looking forward to good discussion.
Hey Im Lyndsay I have recently found my love for dystopian and young adult books. The main reason I found my love for this genre is Elle Fowler on youtube.com. I love watching her glitteratures they always interest me as much as she does. I read whenever I have spare time. I preferably read series but I add single book in the mix every now and then.
Hi Lyndsey! Welcome to the group :)
Have you heard of
? It's our group read and I really enjoyed it when I read it. t would be great if you read it and joined in the discussion but you don't have to.

Hi my name is Katie, I've alway loved young adult books but i realized that alot of the book i read are Dystopian books. I've read Possesion, Divergent and Insurgent, The Hunger Games, Delirum and more.... Dystopian books always remind me the nothing is perfect, that there is such thing as being perfect.
Welcome Katie! Glad you could join us! The monthly read for July is the Uglies, and you're more the welcome to join in! :D
Hi, Im Arya Svit-kona. Its not my real name, its just what i use. I recently got into the Matched Trilogy, it was amazing so i read some more dystopia, and loved it! Now i just can't get enough! However, living in a small town is rough when you've got no one to talk to about books, especially dystopian society books!
Hi Arya Svit-kona! Hope you enjoy the group. I know what you feel about having no one to talk to about books 'cause I live in Wales :)
