Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) Discuss The Hunger Games movie!

The only part I was sad about that they left out was the fact that Madge gave Katniss the Mockingjay pin, not Prim. But either way it was sweet. I just felt Madge giving her the pin was symbolic in a way, I guess you could say.

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I saw the movie yesterday finally! :D So good!

Melanie Cusick-Jones (melc-j) | 2 comments I saw the movie last week - thought they did a great job with book to film (which is always tough) - I really liked the playing up of the game makers and their roles, worked well instead of Katniss having to do cheesy voiceovers explaining everything :)

Did you like the casting? Seems to always draw complaints...

I wasn't sure about Peeta in the first few scenes, but when they got on the train and he started coming out I thought he was good for the role. And I loved Haymitch and Effie - both worked well for me

The movie was amaaaazing! *singsong* I actually thought the casting worked out pretty well. When they first told everyone that Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth were going to play the three main characters, I was really upset because I thought they looked nothing like Katniss, Peeta, and Gale were supposed to, but after seeing the movie, I definitely changed my mind.

I didn't really like Peeta in the beginning of the movie, either, but Hutcherson did a really good job as Peeta, especially near the end. I'm Team Gale all the way, but even can I admit that Peeta was ADORABLE!
Picking Elizabeth Banks as Effie was a good idea, but I didn't really like Woody Harrelson and Donald Sutherland as Haymitch and President Snow.

What are some other things you guys missed in the movie? I wish they had the part where Madge gave the pin to Katniss, but I understand that the story would get too long. Remember the scene at the end of the book where Peeta's leg has to get amputated because of the mutts and Katniss is pounding on the surgery room doors to get inside? It would've been cool if they added that in there. Also the ending wasn't really a cliffhanger like the end of the book was. One teensy other thing was the Safe and Sound song by Taylor Swift. I was waiting the entire movie to hear the song, but it didn't come on. I came home and checked it out, and they said that it was the second song in the credits. I feel like it would've worked really well when Katniss was in the District 12 Justice Building saying goodbye, or maybe when (view spoiler)

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I just wished the stupid people in the theater weren't so annoying. -.- they ruined it for me.

I enjoyed the movie a lot. I thought Peeta was way hotter in my head, though. Hah. I thought they chose very well for Gale - I pictured him looking about the same way. :)

Ditto! I thought I was the only one who thinks that Josh Hutcherson is not as good-looking as my imaginary Peeta. :D

He was a good actor for him, though!
