What do you use as bookmarks?

I am guilty of folding pages in books I own, and even highlighting the important quotations (for teaching purposes). But I DO NOT do that for borrowed books.
As for bookmarks, I have a very special one given by my grade 4 class teacher which I still treasure other than that I find them all the time. I also have a small collection of complimentary bookmarks from stores, the ones you receive when buying books.

I use proper bookmarks and have an assortment of those all over the house. And I also use brand tags(the kind that comes with clothes). I can't stand it when people fold the edges of books. Especially if they borrowed it from me :)
I also hate the edge-folders. I have a small collection of proper bookmarks. Sometimes I place a pen or pencil on the page before closing it, but really , I find it easier to just flip to the page I'm on without any bookmarks as well.
I also tend to use bookmarks, but i keep misplacing them all the time :) So I use any bit of paper i have within reach, you know, bills, post-it notes, etc. But page folding is a big no-no for me too.
Those who have access for printers try Goodreads bookmarks: http://www.goodreads.com/api#logo_and...
I just found it at the Feedback Group.

I totally agree with you, Amaali! I hate dog-eared pages and mysterious bits of paper falling out from between pages. I'm secretly guessing that's why I don't visit the school library. Lol!I always have a bookmark next to me. My mom recently bought me these adhesive book tabs, but I find them sorta inconvenient. They work for my mom though.
I never use book marks. The main reason is because I always misplace them somewhere. So I just remember the page number when I close the book.
I have a cutesie little brand tag (shaped like a butterfly)that I've been using for ages, It came with a pair of jeans I bought. I use it, if its within reach and most of the time I try to remember where I am in the book and flip through the pages until I find familiar ground, Hopeless.. I know :)

Book Marks? No Just use my memory on the page number :-)And I really really hate to see people using folded corners as bookmarks. I really really hate to see it!
I use a book mark...LOL.And I used to use money notes as bookmarks..& I still do thats ometimes....I can remember where I stopped or the page number....but still as a habbit or as I'm used to it I use a book mark.........
I don't use typical book marks. I collect interesting clothes tags and use them instead. They are usually smaller in size than a regular bookmark and looks better. If I don't have one handy I use a strip of paper.I NEVER dog-ear pages and NEVER write anything on books. ANY book.

Here's a question to start a discussion. Do you use a proper bookmarks or is just anything that you can get your hands on?
I always see books with folded corners when I borrow from the library! I hate it, can't understand how readers can do such a harassments to books!
I started out with those famous ribboned bookmarks but then I switched to anything I can get my hands on. I usually use grocery receipts, folded up bit of paper torn from a notebook etc. I NEVER fold the edges of any book, even the ones I own and I never highlight my books.
