Oh how difficult to strike the right balance. Most Christians don't even see a difference. The Roman Ceassar's and the Jewish high priests knew that peace-loving as Christians were, their first loyalty was to Christ, not to Rome or to the preservation of the Jewish people. Christians (after Constantine) became (and have stayed) confused. It's easy to see why. Our faith may be exercised without violating any of the typical laws against murder, theft, adultery etc. Instead we are urged to produce the "fruit of the spirit" Gal 5:22-24 against which there is no law. So we make ideal citizens EXCEPT (and we waffle on this) we do not see threats to the nation as any of our concern since we can not be loyal friends of any world system without becoming enemies of God. James 4:4 Jesus told Pilate that he was a King but that his kingdom was not of this world and for that reason his followers would not fight. John 18:36-37

We may differ in Christ and I may modify my opinion. Feel free to state your opinion. Christians have traditionally paid taxes even though it supports war and now pays for abortions. Should we refuse to pay taxes to be true to Christ? Remember Christ paid the Temple tax through Peter.
